On an aesthetic level - the clarity and crispness of picture in Apple TV seems to be leagues ahead of Amazon.. maybe just me - certainly not plugging Apple! Would be good to have a tool that actually confirms a stream's resolution.

So I have solved this issue. The problem is browser based. Safari will stream HD Amazon Movies. However Chrome, Opera and Firefox will not. Likewise under Parallels. Edge will stream HD movies, but Chrome will not. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction @pastrychef

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on HDCP 2.2 I've run into this problem when streaming on Amazon: HD Video Unavailable Your video will play in Standard Definition because your computer hardware, HDMI cables, and display must all meet content protection (HDCP) requirements for HD video...

Yes - similar experience here. I've arranged a return on mine and will try the standard EVO 970.
