Need Configuration for HIGH-END VFX work

For VFX you will want as many cores as you can possibly afford for rendering. For 2k, you can afford to go with the 3930k 6 core processor, 32gb quad channel ram, and TX 570 or 580. which won't disappoint you. Would recommend a crucial M4 SSD as well. My system is built for rendering, vFX and...

Motion graphics machine - any advice?

That was my trepidation, and since there is no speed stepping, it may be over your head to build a dual xeon - E. If you feel it is, do what I did and get a 6 core 3930. Or you can buy mine and I'll get a dual 2970! hehe. Chris.

Pulled the trigger on LGA2011 3930k, first Hackintosh.

Well, even if there are new macs, they will cost at least thrice as much, for probably the same system! Chris

Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme | Core i7-3930K (Successful)

Thanks, no, it must have been my network, it's fine now. I used a USB wifi card. It was slowing down when I had the USB Bluetooth streaming music. Didn't use the dsdts Thanks! Chris

All extremely solid, stable OC'ed to 4.2 ghz, idles from 19c to 43c, full prime95 at 60c-67c. Had to get USB bluetooth and wifi, but no biggie, they were under $10 ea. Trendmicro makes a mac compatible wifi, and sabrent made the blue tooth. Though sometime when I play bluetooth music, it...

Motion graphics machine - any advice?

Yes, if you have the $$, certainly go for it, you won't regret the extra edge it will give you, and so time saving under deadlines, that is for sure!

GTX570 kexts and drivers, are they necessary post install?

Great, thanks! I'lll try it. Also, can I do a once only boot trick for multi beast? I'd enable it, but too many times when I was installing it, it wouldn't boot anymore when I ticked the same settings a few other people with X79 boards. So is there a way to try it? Chris

Motion graphics machine - any advice?

Seriously, get at least 6 cores, (3930k, LGA2011) It will shave a considerable amount of time off both physics and rendering in C4d, and Ae. It's what I just did and wished I had gone with 16 cores now. Chris

    128GB RAM and 16 cores / 32 threads X9DAI

Just curious, did you have the EVGA SR-X or the Supermicro 9? Wasn't sure which it was... If you had to build this over again, which chip would you get? Thanks, Chris

Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme | Core i7-3930K (Successful)

Thanks for the awesome build advise. I followed it to the T on a p9x79 Pro and it worked out perfectly. Thanks again! Just a quick question, Would you think the Max OC temp at 4.2ghz being 68 degrees in prime95 would be ok? I set my settings exactly as you have them and so far so good but...

GTX570 kexts and drivers, are they necessary post install?

When I install it from Multibeast, do I just click on that option only, since I ticked the other options when I made the change the first time, or do I have to tick them all again? Also, what happens if I can't re-boot, as I'm in the middle of a project now and that would be completely...

GTX570 kexts and drivers, are they necessary post install?

How do I set that to yes, in the boot.plist in the root? Didn't know this. Thanks for the info, I'll go searching how to do this. Cheers, Chris

New Build for CAD and Video

Just an update, I managed to get 20739 geekbench with a P9x79 PRO and i7 3930K 6 core OCd to 4.2ghz, with quad channel memory. Will write a guide on it soon for P9x79 Pro potential builders. Very happy with this system though. Chris

Bought the last one at Fry's. Thought it was taken back, the runner hast done it yet, it's actually still at the office! What's weird is it only cost me $499.00 Fry's gets them in at least once a week, you use have to call and hold one, or buy it online at frys.com

Thanks, I found this out, and returned it, bought a GTX 570 instead until it does come out. Also, changed the memory to quad channel LP, and cooler to H100 System came together nicely though, just trying to figure out how to OC it without windows installed. Chris

GTX570 kexts and drivers, are they necessary post install?

Hi all, When I installed using multi beast, it seams to support the GTX570 out of the box, but do I still need to install the os86x GTX570 kext and driver bundle too, or is that no longer needed in order to get fast acceleration ? I already installed the Nvidia mac driver to get full...

    Enabling openCL GTX570?

Hi, I'm a total N00B at hackintosh and multibeast, and so forgive me in advance for asking this, but if I want to enable openCL on my GTX570 after I've installed (in a p9x79pro) and tuned my system already, can I just launch multi beast and tick on the Nvidia OpenCL option, or do I have to make...
