    macOS 11.2.1 Update

I was in OC 0.6.5 & Big Sur 11.2 - my WiFi was working (TL-WDN48000 - Atheros AR9380 chip). When I updated to OC 0.6.6 & Big Sur 11.2.1 & WiFi did not work. OS can see the WiFi card, but cannot connect. After a bit of research, somehow the sequence of AirPortAtheros40.kext & HS80211Family.kext...

    macOS 10.15.2 Update

I've managed to upgrade from 10.14.6 to 10.15.2. However, my Dell P2415Q cannot do 4K anymore. Stuck with 1080p in Display Setting! I guess I'm one of the few who still use HD4600 HDMI to HDMI (Dell) for display connection...! [Edit] my 2 hours effort to custom build SSDT was rewarded! USB3.0...

    << Solved >> GA-H55M-USB3 with 8-GB RAM Stick

Another update! Gigabyte states the board can support upto 16GB of RAM. Info is old! So I tried 2x8GB + 2x2GB to fill up all 4 slots. Total of 20GB RAM & the system is running okay. Time is limited to few hours, but so far so good.

    << Solved >> GA-H55M-USB3 with 8-GB RAM Stick

My H55M board had been running 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance for few years. Recently, the system have few crashes. I used Rember to isolate the problem to 1 of the 2 RAM sticks. Gigabyte web site does not state any compatibility info on 8GB stick! Info on internet is "try at your own risk". So, I...

    [Success] Install Mojave on GA-H87-D3H

Well, 10.14.1 broke the USB3.0 ports. I took the effort to learn custom SSDT. After 2 hours of reading & trying, I've managed to setup a working custom SSDT. All 4 USB3.0 ports in the rear do not use HSxx port. They use SSP3 to SSP6!

    [Success] Install Mojave on GA-H87-D3H

Yes, Mojave is running on my system! MB - Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H i5-4570 iGPU - Intel HD4600 Sleep & wake up is working too! Encountered few issues, but all of them can be fixed. 1) Atheros WiFi - Apparently Kext is removed in Mojave. Found in High Sierra, put in /L/E then work out "permission"...

[macOS Sierra] 10.12.1 poor Intel HD4600 performance

Hi, My system has been working well with 10.12.0. Full graphic acceleration (QE/CI) was working. I was able to upgrade & boot into 10.12.1. However, few observations in my system: - 1) During boot, after the 50% boot status bar, the Apple logo becomes dotted lines & have some graphic...

Hackintosh Migration - Sandy Bridge to Haswell

    1) Keep your "Sandy Bridge" hard drive separate & safe for now, 2) Build the new Mavericks i7 & Z87X-OC with new SSD or hard disk, 3) Once new build is working, connect the "Sandy Bridge" hard disk in secondary SATA slot. 4) Once boot up, you can copy whatever files you want from "Sandy...

    Question on hardware upgrading

All, A good news to report. After 10.9.1 was successfully installed on a SSD, I put back the 1T hard drive with Windows7 & Ubuntu partitions. To my BIG surprise, both OS can be boot up without reinstallation! 1) Ubuntu did not ask for any driver update & recognised i5 CPU & new...

    Question on hardware upgrading

All, Just a quick update! 10.9.1 is successfully running on the new GA-H87-D3H mobo & i5-4570 CPU. I've also managed to use "Migrate Assistant" to restore all apps & system state from TimeMachine. I'll monitor the system for few days for stability. Next is to tackle the Windows7 &...

    Question on hardware upgrading

Hi oswaldm, My partition structure is similar to your, but a bit more! Disk #1) 10.9.1 on a SSD, Disk #2) Mac user data (1TB), Disk #3) Windows7 partition, Ubuntu partition, CarbonCopy 10.9.1 partition, MountainLion partition, Windows user data partition (1TB) Disk #4) Full TimeMachine...

    Question on hardware upgrading

Hi oswaldm, Thanks for the suggestion! Your approach makes sense & it sounds cleaner. If I understand correctly, I need 2 TimeMachine backups - 1) full system & data backup & 2) OSX drive backup. I just need a clarification since I never use "Migrate Assistant". Can I selectively...

    Question on hardware upgrading

Hi Adrian, Thank you for the suggestion! I appreciate it. I've already had a working 10.9.0 UniBeast thumb drive. I'm downloading 10.9.1 from Apple Store to make another UniBeast drive. Never have too many "backup"...! I also have a TimeMachine backup into a separate 1TB hard drive.

    Question on hardware upgrading

I have an extra SSD & hard disk. Here is my plan: - 1) CarbonCopyClone the current SSD boot to "test" SSD drive. Make it bootable with Chimera & MultiBeast. 2) Once "test" SSD is bootable in existing setup, remove & keep original boot SSD & 1TB multi-boot hard disk. 3) Remove...

    Question on hardware upgrading

Good question! The idea of upgrading came from helping a friend who wanted me to refresh his PC with low cost parts. He uses it for simple tasks such as surfing the net as well as burning few DVDs occasionally. He has a IDE DVD drive! It turns out my H55M-USB3 board has IDE ports too. So I...
