This is not true. An HD movie bought on iTunes - plays on 32" HDTV externally connected through HDMI. Same video does not play on Mac Mini connected to 24" computer monitor through the same cable. Gives HDCP error.

Also having the same issue. Switched to the black port and problem is gone. I was also having a jack detection issue in Windows 8.1. I would randomly get a disconnection notice from the Realtek tray icon.

That is hilarious and badass at the same time. Nice hack!
