By redoing my boot drive I was able to get Mavericks installed. I enabled both Legacy USB support and laptop to get the mouse and keyboard to work.
My GeForce 8600GT card presented no problems and was recognised by the system. I got to a point where I was able to boot directly from the HD...
I'm trying to install Mavericks on my P55M-UD2. First I tried to boot from Unibeast and it stalled, then in verbose, it was loading and then my monitor told me it was going to sleep and that was it. I've had no problem with Mt Lion or Snow Leopard, this has me puzzled. This is my third attempt.
I' m doing music on my Hackintosh too. I built one last year with Snow Leopard and recently installed Mountain Lion on another drive. Both work flawlessly. The Mountain Lion install was incredibly easy. I'm using Logic and Reason. It looks like you've built one hell of a system for music...
I use a 12'' powerbook to control some external hardware and music software that hasn't yet been updated by the manufacturers. I have an m audio midi sport going into a TC Helicon Voiceworks plus, into the powerbook. I'm able to control the Voiceworks through the powerbook, which I wouldn't...
You really don't have to spend much on a FW card as long as they have TI chips. The computer that I'm using for audio production was once a windows machine. I just happen to luck out with it also being compatible with Hackintosh. The only hardware changes I had to make was to a SATA DVD drive...
His Focusrite saffire pro 40 isn't a real sound card? I don't understand.
I use a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 and it works amazingly with my Hackintosh.Very low latency. I installed 2 PCI firewire cards with TI chipset. Always use firewire cards with TI chipsets.
I'm using 10.8 with 2.67 Ghz i5 8Gbd GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 Gigabyte P55M-UD2 and I was running 17 tracks last night without a hiccup.
As far as a PSU I would not skimp on power. Doing music on your computer can be be very demanding. I had a 550 W fail on me and replaced it with a Rosewill 630...
I have the Gigabyte P55M-UD2 and before I turned it into a Hackintosh I always had problems with the firewire and it always showed up as an error in windows but functioned
My first attempt at installing Snow Leopard failed because of that firewire port error so I went into the bios and disabled...
A lot of times when you're having issues with an audio interface it can be as simple as a piece of hardware or software interfering. It could be a graphics card, I was experimenting a few weeks ago with an older card and it played hell with my audio interface, I replaced it with the one I'm...

I did that update yesterday and had some problems too. Most are fixed but now my model is mac mini and before it was mac pro. I don't know if that makes any difference as far as performance goes. I don't have onboard...
I've got a Focusrite Saffire Liquid 56. I have two generic 400 PCI firewire cards with TI chips and they work great.
You might want to reinstall your Saffire too just to see what happens.
