Personally I think nvidia is restraining the drivers, because they are in negotiations with Apple to provide the GPUs for the upcoming iMac and do not want to mess up the relationship with Apple. Another reason might be, that alternative drivers will not be necessary, because some future macOS...

What makes you two so sure, that Pascal-Support will come with those releases? I read some posts about version 367.xxxxx should have brought support for pascal-gpus, which was not true in the end.

Update installed without problems. There was no need to reinstall Nvidia WebDrivers or even to boot with changed boot-arguments. Just installed the update via the MAS and let the installation run through.

You need the latest Build of the Nvidia drivers, which is 346.01.02f04. The Version f01 seems to be only for beta-releases of OS X 10.10.3 I had the same problem yesterday. ;) Here ist the latest driver version: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/85588/en-us

OS X isn't booting even if you change the GPU Selection in the BIOS so that IGP is the primary Graphics-Adapter? I've read some rumors about the next iMac with a Retina Display. There was mentioned that it will have an AMD GPU, what would not be so great news for GTX970/980.

If you're interested in playing around and if you want so save as much money as possible, get a mackintosh. If you're looking for a stable Mac and money does not matter, get a MacBook!

What are you using your Mac for? A quadcore is recommended for example for video editing.

I think the ASUS GTX660 you chose above is one of the most silent GPUS. So if silence is more important than power I would take it.
