Geekbench (and Cinebench) scores drop after sleep

Unfortunately, not for me. Still 10,500 vs 8,500 before/after sleep :banghead: Must be the antique (1 yr old) unsupported system I'm running. ;) More interest in the new CPUs...

Geekbench (and Cinebench) scores drop after sleep

No better with Lion (10.7) :problem: Boot, run Geekbench64, sleep for 10 seconds, wake and rerun Geekbench64 :wtf: Before and after sleep Lion.png

Undervolting & Underclocking - Discussion and tips sought

Not trying to derail your excellent topic, but I've been interested in this for other reasons. I would never have guessed that you'd improve performance doing this, but it sounds fascinating. My aim was to underclock to run the cpu slowly for power saving / heat reasons. Most of what I do...

    Is Sleep Really Worth it?

Not sure if it's worth a 20% reduction in performance on awakening: :wtf: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7763&start=0 unless you want to reboot after waking every time?

Z68 Sandy Bridge Hackintosh For Music Productions.

As Lion (10.7) will be out in July, I suspect you'll see 10.6.8 before the end of June.

Geekbench (and Cinebench) scores drop after sleep

Update: With 10.6.7 Geekbench 64 scores repeatably go from 10680 to 8200 after a brief 10 second sleep. WTF?

New build starts and stops after 2 sec

Try reseating your CPU cooler. I know it sounds weird, but if it's not seated properly, the CPU overheats in a few seconds and automatically shuts itself down so as not to melt. I saw you said you reseated the CPU. Are you sure you have the hold down clips correctly in place to hold the cooler...

Did hackintoshing lead you to buy from Apple again?

Yes. 1) I bought the 11" MacBook Air (maxed out) and LOVE it. :D You can see from the sig below that my Hack will technically run GeekBench rings around the Air, but the Air is SO much faster in every way for the things I do daily. Agreed, it won't do heavy cpu or graphics lifting tasks...

What can't a hackintosh do that a mac can?

The only thing that my Apple Macs can do that my hack cannot is install the 10.6.7 Lion pre-release candidate. Damn shame too as I was hoping to possibly see GTX580 support in Lion

    Recommendations on quality uATX cases

Good news on the PSU and very nice cooler suggestion. Amazing how low profile that is. Thanks again to both of you.

    Recommendations on quality uATX cases

Nice case. Thanks  I am assuming that the cases that do not come with a power supply will fit a standard sized supply. Some of the cases I looked at that include a supply have flat elongated supplies and I'm wary of trusting.

    Recommendations on quality uATX cases

Delete key for Apple Wireless Keyboard (for entering BIOS)

replying three months late.... Thanks for the suggestion. I wanted the Delete key for entering the BIOS on boot and the various key combinations I've tried don't seem to work at that point in the boot process.

i7-875K unlocked CPU ratio in BIOS

I've got a Noctua cooling this chip (see sig), so it's not going to overheat. I've just not had ANY time recently to play with this. I will get back to it before too long and report results. Even with stock clocks I'm getting 10,700 geekbench 64 scores. I'd love to be able to install the...

i7-875K unlocked CPU ratio in BIOS

Yes I am running stock clocks now. Have not had time to play with OC. I really don't do anything on this box that even needs the power of the stock i7, so it has not been a high priority
