    Your First Computer

I still remember sitting with my grandfather, carving the wood pieces from spare branches of drift-wood floating down the river by our tent. We would play games together, add complex math, and see how fast we could move the beads into position. My childhood was consumed with this computer!

    2012 Mac Pro Specs: Xeon E5, Thunderbolt, USB3, PCIE3

Very interesting... excellent find! I will take my place from speculation and sit down now lol Cool, thanks for sharing that!

    WWDC 2012 Mac Pro "Update"

Maybe the Mac Pro needs a full-sized retina display for professionals when it's ready to happen (so you can have a 27" high res display, that makes it easier to develop the 2x sized graphics components for all the other retina display devices). Perhaps it's just a combination of display, the...

    WWDC 2012 Mac Pro "Update"

My guess is that the socket 2011 server platform isn't a large enough spec upgrade to warrant an entirely new case and system board design currently, so they are sending a small gesture to those who need a Mac Pro right now that "yes, they haven't killed it... and here are some lower prices and...

    2012 Mac Pro Specs: Xeon E5, Thunderbolt, USB3, PCIE3

Wow, the Mac Pro update sucked. It's the same thing in the base model as always. The only difference are the 12 core systems, and all the same crap as before. Wow, a 5770... There has to be more coming with Mountain Lion. As a side note, they dropped the price big-time for the upgrade to the...

    2012 Mac Pro Specs: Xeon E5, Thunderbolt, USB3, PCIE3

It is only "key" for platforms that could make use of such a setup. How will this work on a system based on the Sandy Bridge Xeon chips, with 6-8 cores and no built-in video hardware? ;) Think about that one...

    2012 Mac Pro Specs: Xeon E5, Thunderbolt, USB3, PCIE3

The only thing that is a bit 'bogus' about this ArsTechnica article is that Apple "needs" to pipe a connection from the internal graphics to the Thunderbolt chipset. That's just wrong. You don't need to connect a display output to attach storage or any other device. Thunderbolt is simply an...

New computer for Dad this Fathers Day

Go buy him a Mac Mini ;) Your father might appreciate a well made item with warranty support, and in a compact format. Who gives a hack as a gift? I know I wouldn't! But then, I'm not you obviously :) Also, they are less than $1,000...

    2012 Mac Pro Specs: Xeon E5, Thunderbolt, USB3, PCIE3

Uhhh, how do you figure? The Xeon is intended for (high load) server/workstation environments and is a multi-socket compatible CPU which is at the base, the exact same thing as the i7 counter part in just about every way. Mostly, you'll find them start at lower base MHz since you'll be putting 2...

Whiskeynipple's G5 "Intel Fitment" Purist / Future Proof Mod

At what point do you stop and say "I love using Apple products and OS X... I should probably support the company again" :)

    Don't they know about hackintoshes?

Guys lol I'm not sure why anyone even thought they'd get rid of the Mac Pro. That's just a stupid assumption all-around. Apple knows there is a lot of money to be made in the App store for all of their consumer devices, and mobile devices especially. Even if the large amount of their sales are...

2012 Mac Spec Sheet Leaked - All New Models & Prices!

Darn excited over the new New Mac Pro's, and also a new MacBook for me :) Thanks kindly hackintosh community for bridging the gap of conversion! Much appreciated for all the hard work. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to flash this PC 7970 with an EFI bios and use it, or I'll have to...

    Lion on GA-X79-UD5

It's not a BIOS issue. OSX and Windows don't "read" time the same. OS X uses UTC, and Windows doesn't. If you search for this, there's a way to edit this in the Windows registry to work the same as OS X (Apple has a service that's installed with Bootcamp that fixes this as well).

    Interim ALC898 edited Lion AppleHDA.kext

I've found that this 898 edited HDA kext doesn't work manually installed, or if it does it creates what seems like an 'echo effect' on my particular setup anyhow. IMO, it's much better and more stable for now to install it with the Multibeast method. I'd love to be able to just copy over the...

ATI Radeon HD 7970, weird chimera message

Dude... it's because the 7970 isn't supported at all yet. In the bootloader, or otherwise. Figure it out :)

How much did it really cost… To Build your Hacintosh and was

No doubt for sure that building these is a good experience in itself. For sure! Otherwise, I wouldn't be here right now :) I do enjoy it, but from a realistic standpoint of just having a good solid OS X system I disagree hacks are worth as much as people tend to think IMO. Without the awesome...

How much did it really cost… To Build your Hacintosh and was

The honest truth of the matter here is while you think your $1,000 to $2,000 system is "just as good" you're only diluting the reality. That $1,000 machine is a self-made machine with marked up consumer parts. Which, while on paper will get you the same or more performance than an equivalent...

    Lion on GA-X79-UD5

Great :) Really appreciate the work you've done updating this, and posting all the info. Can't wait to get my system up and running at the end of this week. Once that happens, I'll let you know and keep you posted if I find anything of benefit since I'll actually be able to test and play with...
