    Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

with this B550 vision d is it too much to hope for target display mode to work with an older 2013 iMac? I know TB3 controller would have to be flashed, put in extended mode, and add DROM customization. I have a different monitor for installation and setup, but I'm trying to keep costs down by...

Announcement: AMD Based Systems and tonymacx86

Does anyone know the cheapest processor to run with ryzentosh? I want to try out a low cost processor before upgrading the cores. For the AM4 socket is it the Ryzen 3 1200? As I think someone has mentioned, hopefully there is a buyer's guide in the works. I've decided to try out the B550 vision...

    Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

I just ordered this mb today. I was reading from itsage on another site that production may have stopped and I saw the price jumping up to $400 on newegg. If anyone is interested in working with this mb then now might be a good time to shop around and buy it. It can still be purchased for $259...

    Ongoing Progress - Big Sur on Gigabyte B550 Vision D - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - Thunderbolt 3

This thread and the z490 vision D thread are where all the excitement is for me right now on tonymac. The Thunderbolt connection and high core count possibilities are big leaps for people wanting to build a system that is a little more future proof. I like the Z390 thread too (also Thunderbolt)...

Announcement: AMD Based Systems and tonymacx86

Great news. I was in disbelief that this was possible to do (MacOS on AMD cpu). Now, what are we looking at with respect to max CPU core-count differences for realistic builds? It looks to me like Intel's 10 core 20 thread (10 series) VS AMD's threadripper (2990wx) 32 core 64 thread. I love the...

Build for logic with echo layla 3g Pci/pci-x card

What is the best way to record on windows with an echo audio product and then transfer or use the same reference file for osx? For example my layla24 works fine on windows 7 on my 4530s. Should I record the tracks to a shared drive accesses by my OS X partition (the 4530s is a dual boot)? What...

    4530s 10.6.8 SL chameleon/chimera update to 10.11 El Capitan

Just updated from 10.11.1 to 10.11.4 and audio broke on this 4530s build. I followed step #14 again, but it did not work this time. Do I need the Toleda Clover Audio ALC 110 or is there something else that is a preferred fix? thanks!

No Audio Devices - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

All good here thanks Toleda! I corrected the layout-ID by editing the DSDT with directions in post#1. Then I re-ran the script. Excellent guide! Next, I'm going to have to better configure the output descriptions listed in system preferences. For example, built-in speaker is actually my...

No Audio Devices - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

Ok thx! I'll give this a try. Looks like I have a few methods to choose from for editing the layout=id. It's strange right now my layout id shows up as <75 03 00 00>. Your Post#1 is intimidating but very thorough and well organized. I feel like I've learned a lot just getting you the...

No audio input/output devices found for my GA-P55M-UD4/ F9/ i7-875k/ 9800GT When running command file I'm getting... Audio ID: 885 is not supported, continue (y/n): My board is supposed to have Realtek 889a (which is under 885 support) The audio codec detect command tool gives me: Audio ID...

Audio IN best practices for my setup(s)

I'm interested in making sure I'm importing the best quality audio possible but also time efficient. I'm just recording short guitar tracks for now. I've got a basic strat guitar I can use with 3 different recording setups. As of now my only input to the computer would be 1/8". a small...

P55M no keyboard on 10.11 install SOLVED, but function doesn't carry over to boot disk with OS

Fixed!! thanks. I shut down and remounted the EFI and it said "false" in the config USB 1000 so I knew that was the issue. Changed it to "true" and then rebooted. Strange that the first time I tried this it showed "true" already in the config file, but I think I may have mis-mounted the correct...

P55M no keyboard on 10.11 install SOLVED, but function doesn't carry over to boot disk with OS

I have an older board - GA-P55M-UD4 and I used a trick to get keyboard and mouse working on the installer. It is referenced in the El Capitan Big List of Solutions... On a 5-series board set FixUSB_1000 in config.plist (or Clover Configurator / ACPI / DSDT / Fix USB) However, after running...

from 10.6.8 to 10.11.3 install fresh or manually remove old apps?

I'm updating my P55M desktop and have successfully installed 10.11.3 via unibeast method. Since it's a smaller 80GB SSD, I have to be careful with how much space is available and how I'm using it. I've gone through and deleted a lot of the old apps I was using but the drive still is using 68GB...
