THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
Been fighting with this for a week, update my GA Z68MA-UD3-B3 to the UEFI bios and first try its alive with just GraphicsEnabler=Yes (gtx 580)
Using dsdt free and iMac 13,1 since it has a ivy bridge CPU.
Have not tested anything, just excited...
Article: UniBeast: Install OS X Yosemite on Any Supported Intel-based PC
The Award Bios part is basically who makes the BIOS - sort of.. If you go into the BIOS it will often say Award, Phoenix, etc somewhere..
The 5 or 6 series part has to do with the Intel chipset. For example a P55...
I have a friend that had a similar setup that worked/acted flaky.. he has 16GB RAM and one of his 4GB modules was bad, but not detected as bad by the BIOS during POST. Never overclocked or anything. It would work for a while then once it started actually addressing memory on that module get a KP...
possibly not the best solution for you, but you could do one of the following:
Put the drive in a USB-IDE enclosure and plug it externally
Use a USB-IDE adapter internally
Use a SATA-IDE bridge board and connect it to a free SATA port.
Just Atheros wifi works on them. Also the BIOS is locked from the factory to only support certain HP ID'd wifi modules. I think there is an unlocked BIOS floating around, but its easier if you can find one that comes with the Atheros card to start with.
I got lucky and where I work has several...
I actually can't do much with it right now, its a friend's computer so back at his house.. Just wanted to post what info I could in hopes it would help you guys out :D
It is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB WIFI with a i7 2700K Sandy Bridge CPU. I have it almost all running with 10.7.4 from unibeast with the folowing settings/exceptions. Video card is a Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850

If you re-download Lion from the app store, it will download 10.7.4 that you can use UniBeast to make a new USB boot drive with.
I am not sure if this includes the new goodies for the new MBP or not integrated but I was able to use it to install on a Z77 board and the USB 3.0 intel ports work...
F10 is the key to get into the HP BIOS. Just turn it on and keep hitting F10 while the HP logo is on the screen and you should see a "F10: BIOS Setup" flash on the screen then drop you in.
Mine doesn't sleep and I don't use any app for it. All I do is hit the power button to turn it on then immediately close the lid..
Its at work and i need it awake all the time to connect remotely so it never sleeps if its on.
Asus N56 is also a notebook, so not sure where front panel ports would be.. :D
My experiences with MacOS running on notebooks has been pretty much a fail except for the Probook 4530s, and that only works thanks to Blueking and Tonymac.. Desktops, I have had fairly good luck if I look around...
My only thought is a USB 2.0 expresscard, and get to Chimera with the Unibeast flash drive in the USB 3.0 slot, then move it to the 2.0 card and refresh (or use 2 flash drives).
Then again it may not work at all either..
I have found that the easiest way for me is to go to Displays in System Preferences and check the "Show Displays in menu bar" option.. Once that is there when you connect a monitor, go to the menu and click "Detect Displays".
I run my probook with the lid shut and 2x 23" monitors plugged in...
I've found the easiest way to get it started is with Unibeast and make a bootable USB drive. Make sure you select the Notebook option when making the bootable USB. Thats how I installed on my probook with the same ATI card in it. THe ATI does nothing, but at least Intel graphics work and if I...
My 4530s is currently running F.25 with no problems using the F.22 DSDT. I haven't used it a ton this way, but it seems ok. I was going to use the other version, but couldn't DL the one that matched the installer. Oh well, seems good so far..
Looking on the list of hardware, it should work except the Realtek WiFi won't.. You need to find one with Atheros WiFi card, or replace the card with the correct part after you get the laptop. I'm not sure if a non-HP provided Atheros card will work because the BIOS may have a wifi card lock...
