Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

I will give that a try. Just an update. I flashed from F20 to F21 bios and now OS X will recognize the Clarett 4pre with the Thunderbolt Boot Support option on. I also obtained a beta driver for the iMac 17,1 from Focusrite, I'm not sure if that did anything to effect it. And, the noise I am...

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

Yes, and it seems odd but that didn't actually make a difference. It still throttled which doesn't make sense as that null kext is supposed to just keep it at stock speed I believe.

6700K always at full speed please

Intel Power Gadget is correct. My last build would run full speed 100% of the time. I'm using the same PSU that was in my previous build and it only makes the noise when power saving features are active. I may eventually get a new PSU, just have to find one that doesn't make noise due to power...

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

One thing I really can't figure out is no matter what I do, throttling is always going on with this build. If any of you other gents with this board and CPU and figure out how to stop CPU throttling I would greatly appreciate it as I'm at my wits end with this.

SSDT and Settings to run at 100% CPU Speed 24/7

It appears with Skylake you just have to live with power management which completely sucks as the throttling causes an odd noise in my PSU when I move the mouse. Not present in Windows which will run at 4.6ghz all times. I'm not sure what changed since sandy bridge, but that was dead simple to...

6700K always at full speed please

I have yet to figure it out. With my old Sandy Bridge system it worked by creating a SSDT that has the minimum frequency at my overclock which would then generate no states for throttling. Unfortunately with this Skylake setup it just ignores everything. Even loading the null power management...

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

Cancel that. I still get a random restart when I want to shut down. It isn't very often though. In that case I don't believe my configuration will be of much help on that front. At this point though I would say everything is working in the good enough realm of things.

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

I generally disable sleep once I get set up as I'm either using the computer or it is turned off. I believe it was working though out of the box before I changed my settings. I haven't throughly tested that though. Ever since the 12.2 update I haven't had it reboot when I shutdown. It would do...

SSDT and Settings to run at 100% CPU Speed 24/7

On my last build which was a i7 2600K all I had to do was generate a SSDT where the low frequency mode, normal frequency, and turbo frequency were set to the over clock speed I had. I have done that with my new i7 6700K but it still throttles down. I have added this to my config plist...

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

I have other OS selected in BIOS. I loaded optimized BIOS default settings. I think the only stuff I changed after that were my couple thunderbolt settings listed above and disable super speed serial port or whatever that was called and enable XHCI hand off in USB support.

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

For me now with boot support disabled the 4pre still connects fine after shutting the machine down. It may just have to boot once, I'm really not sure. Either way, I did some recording today and everything worked out for me.

Can You Disable Speedstep I7 6700K?

Nobody? I know it seems like an odd request as the speedstep stuff works out of the box. I just like no throttling and 100% all the time as I use my computer for music production and video.

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

Alrighty. I got it working just fine. It still states drivers aren't loaded under system information for thunderbolt but it appears to be irrelevant as the 4Pre works great and the latency is super low. And when I say super low, lower than my RME PCIe card I had at one point which is impressive...

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare Thunderbolt Support Focusrite 4pre (help)

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Designare up and running great minus getting the Focusrite 4pre working. I have validated it works within windows 10. If I boot without it powered up and look under the system report it gives info that no hardware is connected under Thunderbolt. If I boot with the...

    Low Geekbench for 6700K

I have the same board and chip as you. I'm getting in the upper 18500 or so for multi core and around 5800 for single core. I have an overclock at 4.6ghz as well. I ran intel power gadget while bench marking and noticed it is throttling all over the place. I haven't been able to disable...

Can You Disable Speedstep I7 6700K?

I noticed OS X Sierra does not recognize that I have disabled all the C states and speed step stuff in the BIOS on my Z170 build. Windows 10 does though. I was able to disable it on my older Sandy Bridge I7 2600K and was able to always run at full speed. Everything works as it should on my...

Recommendation for Audio Workstation Custo Mac Pro

I was looking at the Z170 Pro and it seems solid. I may end up getting the older thunderbolt add on card because all the audio interfaces use the older thunderbolt connector so I would have to get a converter to go from the 3 port to the older style of connector. The other option is the...

Recommendation for Audio Workstation Custo Mac Pro

I have been running a trusty sandy bridge i7 2600k build overclocked to 4.5ghz for quite some time. I'm looking at getting into something more modern. Mainly I'm looking for thunderbolt support so I can get an audio interface that is based off thunderbolt. After reading up on it, it looks like...
