Sadly, i don't have Displayport on my z77-ds3h, and the spec sheet clearly states that the maximum resolution available on the DVI and HDMI connectors is 1920x1200. :/
I have found some decent priced Geforce GT 740s: do the brand or quantity and type of memory matter regarding compatibility...
I would like to upgrade to a 2560x1440 monitor, what's the cheapest video card that will support this resolution, work OOB with Mavericks, and outperforms the integrated Intel HD4000?
I would like to upgrade to a 2560x1440 monitor, but my integrated Intel HD 4000 supports resolutions up to 1920x1200. What is the cheapest video card i can get to support QHD resolution? I don't care about 3D/gaming performance, i play league of legends once every while, and the HD 4000 is...
I have the GA-Z77-DS3H, and i can confirm that it is easy and painless to install: everything works out of the box. If you want something that won't give you headaches during installation, this is the one to go.
PCI express wifi card
I have an Ivy bridge hackintosh based on a gigabyte z77-ds3h, and i'm looking for a wifi N pci express card that works out of the box, hassle-free. Bluetooth would be nice, but it's not necessary. Do you have any brand/models to recommend?
Here's what happened: my girlfriend got this external usb 2.0 hard drive that stopped working. I opened the box and inside there was a WD Scorpio Blue 320gb 2.5" sata drive. I put it in another external box and it didn't work. I plugged it to my hackintosh and couldn't find it in the sata...

Gigabyte's z77n-wifi is about to be released, and it should be the most hackintoshable mini-itx board available. Check this article: http://www.tonymacx86.com/159-exclusive-hands-gigabyte-s-upcoming-mini-itx-motherboards.html
First post updated. I've read that non-K IB processors have the multiplier unlocked up to 41, yealding a 4100mhz clock; that would be more than enough for me. Will a Corsair CX 430 be enough to power this system up? I can't find the bluetooth adapter suggested in the custmac buyers' guide, so i...
I've been waiting for a new pc since march, i can't hold on much longer. :D
When will they be released? Are they mini-ITX?
I'd like a mini-itx machine because i'm fed up with enormous cases wasting space, i don't need all that room. I don't think i'll need more than 16gb of ram for now...
Photo editing customac for Lightroom 4
I've patiently waited for IB cpus to be fully supported under mac os, it's time to upgrade! :D
This machine will be built around lightroom 4: the other tasks (web browsing, some coding, some movie playing, occasional Libreoffice) don't require much...
I have the EP45-UD3R and i like it. Great overclocking capabilities, and works well with mac os x. Check this forum thread for more informations: viewtopic.php?f=168&t=36511
The WWDC is only a week away, and there's a high chance Apple will release some informations about Ivy Bridge macs. I'll make my choice after learning something more about the new platform.

These two look great, but i don't know if they will be supported in Mountain Lion.
IB cpus are faster than the corresponding SB models by a factor of around 3-5%, so it's no big deal. Since the z77 chip natively supports usb3, there's a chance that we'll see it working at full speed in mac os too. IB cpus tend to overheat a lot more than SB, and this makes overclockers...
We will probably know more about IB support after the Apple WWDC 2012 which will end on June 15th. Right now IB works with a custom patched kernel, so if you need a new machine and cannot wait for official IB support, i advice building a SB rig, which is fully supported without hassles.
(I'm...
You are going to need a mini-ITX motherboard. The rest is the same as the other form factors. Also, you'll want to make sure that the video card will fit. If you are going to use the additional drive bay you'll be restricted to short video cards. You can remove the the drive bay to insert a...
