    G5 Hackintosh - Bobby's Build

While tri-booting a single drive is possible it's...messy, at best. Especially with a Hackintosh thrown in the mix. I've played around with it before and it takes a lot, lot, lot of tinkering with to get it working right. And then one of the OS's gets a major update and will inevitably break...

    My First Case Mod (G5)

Sorry, but I have already ordered my parts. So I'm committed to drilling a lot of holes, it would seem. I know it will be a pain, but I'd rather do it double sided. It'll be a lot cleaner with the HDD connectors on one side and all the cables connecting in the back.

    My First Case Mod (G5)

So apparently I can't PM yet... I've attached all of my backplane files. I'm breaking the 8 drives into 2 boards, to spread power load over 2 lines and it'll be easier to etch 2x 4x6 boards than cutting down a larger one. From what you said, your rack is going to be slightly taller than...

    stiligFox's PowerMac G7

Your build looks great! I especially like the custom cable grommets for the PSU and rear panel. I may have to steal that idea for my build...

    My First Case Mod (G5)

I meant rack when I said case, my bad. I'm trying to keep the main case as original as possible so the space between the PSU housing and the upper shelf is just over 11"/280mm. I've measured it out so that I should be able to fit 8 drives where the SATA connectors are 35mm apart, so only...

    My First Case Mod (G5)

Akhilv, the drive rack looks great. How tall is the case? Also, what are you using as a backplane for the drives? I'm working on something very similar, but I'm planning on using the original PSU case so I'll only have right around 11" of height for my rack. Hope you have the time to keep...

Zotac Z87 ITX with Thunderbolt coming soon

Noooooooooooo! That is so sad. This board has everything that I wanted for my next build and I was so excited when I first saw the photos of it. Fingers crossed that they change their mind, even for a limited release...

Zotac Z87 ITX with Thunderbolt coming soon

TB 2.0 doesn't even increase the max bandwith. TB 1.0 is 2x 10Gb streams, 2.0 is 1x 20Gb stream. The only real advantage that 2.0 will have right off the bat is that it will support 4k screens, while 1.0 does not. Granted, this will be more important as time goes on but, yea, for now I'd be...
