    Catalina to Monterey

I would take some time and slowly go through the very detailed OpenCore guide: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/ You will find it has all the information and answers you need to get macOS 12.x installed and working with OpenCore. Good luck!

[QUESTION] RX 6800 XT or RX 570

I personally believe 2025(or 5 years from the last Intel Mac release) will be our last supported macOS release, but could end sooner when none-T2 chip macs are off the support list. But as you say, they should still offer security updates for a while after that(hopefully).

[QUESTION] RX 6800 XT or RX 570

It's best to look at the last mac model with similar graphics and add 5 years. But the real limiting factor here is as we know Apple is switching to ARM based CPUs and the next two years, so how long Apple wants to support Intel is up to them, but I would expect them to hopefully carry on...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

Yes, you’re right in that I got Safari working while keeping the same SMBIOS by turning of the iGPU fully in the bios and using the AMD kext. However as pointed out already the kext may not work on your AMD gfx card, and will be the reason it’s not working for you. I ended up removed the kext...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

the best option(for my setup) out of all the smbios is iMac19,2, if you want all the other features working, but as you’ve found out the downside is that Safari does have DRM issues, and why I suggested using Chrome for the time being. Thats what I currently do. If you want to use Safari only...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

I’ve not tested the settings on Catalina, as they are they for Big Sur with OC. with Catalina shiki works fine, so never used the AMD kext. You could try shikivga=80. Make sure you have the latest kext for WEG and Lilu. if using OC you may find this guide of use...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

Are you using clover or OC in Big Sur? For headless, all you really need to do is set iGPU assigned memory to 256mb(not auto) and disable multi monitor (dGPU +iGPU) in your BIOS and VideoProc selects intel iGPU. For DRM issues: No extra settings are needed to stream DRM protected content via...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

Just to update to hardware encoding: I've done encoding testing using Windows 10 Pro and macOS 11.0.1( SMBIOS 19,2 without additional AMD kext or gfx patching in device properties, just plain OC 0.6.3) and export times are the same to the second. Interestingly, DaVinci Resolve uses more dGPU on...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

completely agree. SMBIOS iMac 19,2 with iGPU as headless seems very stable and the best option I've found at the moment. I'm sure a fix will be found soon for the DRM issue.

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

well, I turned off iGPU in the bios (memory set to AUTO that fully disables it), and used the .kext while still keeping with the same SMBIOS(iMAC 19,2) so not to mess up my Apple account and messages, hand-off, etc and DRM issues are also gone when using Safari. I'm not too sure on the full...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

I'll give that kext a go.

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

Yes, I'm using SMBIOS 19,2 and OC 0.6.3. Here are the slimmed down settings to get AppleTV working: iGPU PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0) AAPL,ig-platform-id 03001259 dGPU PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) AAPL,slot-name Internal@0,1,0/0,0 BIOS iGPU memory assigned 256mb, but iGPU multi monitor...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

I've noticed from my own research Shiki does nothing anymore. However, I've managed to get a stable setup with AppleTV working for streamed and downloaded content without shiki settings, but you need to use Chrome for online content like Netflix, etc.

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

they say "persistence is the key to success"... Managed to sort the DRM issues out on AppleTV streaming and downloaded content, but Netflix/Amazon PrimeVideo only works via Chrome. You could say it's a useable fix. However, the computer takes much longer to load, so things are not 100% correct...

New DRM enabling method for systems with AMD GPU

I've switch to OC 0.6.3 for Big Sur, I feel your pain with this one. No matter the settings(shikigva, AAPL,platform-id,etc) it makes no difference in Big Sur. Even with the wrong settings in Catalina AppleTV App would play downloaded content, but not the case in Big Sur. The only working...

    macOS 11.0.1 Asrock Z370Pro4 i8-8700k RX580 OC 0.6.3 AppleTV issues

In answering my own post(as I seem to be doing today ), I've found a temp workaround in changing SMBIOS to MacPro7,1 and fully disabling IGPU in the motherboard bios(also removing any reference to IGPU device in config). Not 100% happy as it disables quicksync and hardware is not as well...

    macOS 11.0.1 Asrock Z370Pro4 i8-8700k RX580 OC 0.6.3 AppleTV issues

Still testing and fine tuning my macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur installation. Test system: macOS 11.0.1 Bug Sur on Asrock z370 Pro 4 with RX580 using OC 0.6.3. Everything is working and stable using SMBIOS iMac 19.2, with the exception of Apple TV and Netflix via Safari(works via chrome, so Netflix not...

[SOLVED] macOS 11 no ethernet (BCM57762)

    — Resolved. It uses the AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext that is included in Big Sur. So it should have worked as it does on Windows, and macOS 10.X.X I would appear the card had some issue with Big Sur + openCore that after installation it would no longer show up in macOS 11 Big Sur, macOS 10.15.7...

[SOLVED] macOS 11 no ethernet (BCM57762)

Using OC 0.6.3. macOS 11.0.1 WiFi/Bloothtooth Fenvi T919 working fine, However, the once native PCI-e Ethernet BCM57762 card is no longer listed in Networking. Has Apple dropped support for the BCM57762 in macOS 11 big sur?

#To delete - I Get Corrupted Version of the Big Sur Installer > Please Help!

Did the installer open up on your MacBook Pro? I've only had issues the first day like most people with erroring on trying to download, but since then I've downloaded many times at full speed. It could be a server issue connected to your location. Maybe using a VPN could solve it.
