Mavericks & Windows 8 on same drive without erasing

I used lateral thinking and used a Ubuntu stick, formatting first with gparted and then reformatting with the Disk Utility. Seems to be going well. Any pitfalls (eg alignment), would be grateful for your comments.

Mavericks & Windows 8 on same drive without erasing

Hi, RehabMan, You have been helpful in the past and hopefully you can be helpful again. You haven't heard of me for some time as I had (past tense) a good working system, which was ruined (I don't know why) when trying to update to Yosemite. To remind you, I have an IB 4540s with a...

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

You are correct, it always defaults to OSX!

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

Nguyen, I have a couple of questions on the Gui/plist, please. Is there an option/means of setting (say) Windows to be the default OS on booting? I cannot find such an option. Is it simply related to the order in the <dict> block? Secondly, I cannot get the hotkeys m and w to work. They...

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

The problem is with Windows, not Parallels. WIndows has two sets of activations, one when boot camp (native), the other as a VM (windows). That was what the queston was about, but don't worry, let's leave it as otherwise I will be diverting from the thread.

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

Whoopiee!!! It's all done nicely now thanks (yes, it needed the Windows EFI partition, not the Windows partition). BTW, I have both the host W8.1 activated, and the Parallels VM W8.1 activated. That is necessary because the hardware ID Windows sees is different. This means that I need to...

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

Sorry, I hoped I was done but I do have 2 remaining questions. 1. When the Gui tab is clicked in CC, a splashscreen comes up marked "Help Custom Entries / SubEntries" which in my case has three IDs (0, 1, 2) corresponding to "MyCustomEntries", Linux, OSX 10.9. The SubEntries are not ticked on...

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

I am referring to your OP guide, which states: 3. Sleep Turn off Wake on Ethernet in System Preferences and BIOS. If you have trouble with auto-wake caused by USB devices, turn off Wake on USB in BIOS, or enable USB fix in your config.plist. In the absence of any other potential places...

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

Hi, thanks for the more detailed info, Nguyen. I am inclined to agree with RehabMan; without detailed information about what Clover Configurator does (which really means understanding the options of Clover itself), Clover Configurator can be very dangerous. The 3 remaining comments/queries...

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

Hi, Nguyen [sorry but I don't know your first name!]. Thanks for replying. I HAVE NOW DONE (1) BELOW MANUALLY & IT WORKED. FOR THOSE LOOKING AT HOW TO DO IT: (a) Clover configurator is very flexible but not very helpful by way of hints. The reason most of the screens appear empty is...

Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

Hi, Nguyen, I have followed your guide and it has worked very well. So well that I have even managed to install Parallels in OSX. When I set the system up according to your instructions, my (limited) understanding is that "somehow" Clover knows where to gets its EFI boot file for differing...

TRY 2 - SUCCESS!!! GREAT NEWS (FOR ME). Doing EXACTLY what Mad Audi Scientist says does work, i.e. 1. Use the method described by Mad Audi Scientist. 1a. Use the toleda kext edits. 1b. Add the BTFirmwareUpdaterv1.5 from OSXLattitude. All is very good. BTW - the ONE change I...

[Guide] Airport - PCIe Half Mini v2

TRY 1 - FAILED: READ NEXT POST Hi, Mad Audi Scientist, thank you for being kind and entering the specifics of what you did and how it worked out. I have tried with a fresh 10.9 install the steps shown on a 4540s with a PCIe card (seen as a USB device), more than once now. With the...

[Guide] Airport - PCIe Half Mini v2

I don’t know whether this is wise (I thought it worth a go), but I tried installing the 10.8.5 kexts IOBluetoothFamily and IO80211Family onto Mavericks, with toleda's bcm4352.kext (for BT), and this still did not work. (Same problem of BT icon looking good but connecting being poor). I also...
