I have been struggling every night for a week to get Catalina up and running and I think my problem is due to old kexts or GPU frambuffer?
I followed the update directly to Catalina thread, but got a blank screen when the progress bar was about 60% on the black background/white apple logo...
Yes, just the gigabyte updater that runs in windows. I think I'd be happy with Thunderbolt 3 that works when plugged in at bootup. Hot swap would be great, but not critical for me.
If I write a guide to detail the process to to take a GA-Z170X-UD5 TH from F5 to F22g (with patch), install windows to update thunderbolt 3 drivers/HDMI 2.0, and install (dual boot) Mojave 10.14.6 would
1) That be worth the effort?
2) If so, should I include that guide as a post in this...
Fantastic. Thanks. I've been reading so many posts over the past few days that I realise now that I was probably overthinking it.
Assuming BIOS F22g, I have seen reference to:
setup_var 0x4EF 0x00
<enter>
and:
setup_var_3 0x4EF 0x00
<enter>
Thanks for the hint to use setup_var_3. I wasn't sure...
First off, thanks to everyone on this forum and especially iLikeHackintosh for all the MB specific info. I have studied this thread, TonyMacx86's build and iLikeHackintosh's guide How to change hidden CFG Lock setting.
Here is my dilemma -- I have a rock solid system, but I need to upgrade from...
Sorted :)
I ran toleda script and it worked. Then it didn't. Turns out my audio cable has a short in it. So I'm not exactly sure if the toleda script was necessary as internal speaker was showing up before I ran the script. Anyhoo...works now. Thanks.
Hey guys, I have a very similar build:
OS X 10.12 Sierra
GA-170X-UD5 TH
64GB RAM
i7-6700
EVGA GeForce GTX-950
System definition iMac 14,2
I'm still working audio issues. HD Audio is not important to me, I'd be happy with 2-Ch stereo. Here's what I've done so far:
Fresh install of Sierra...
Success! I just upgraded my CustoMac to Mavericks from Mt Lion and have tried repeatedly to get iMessage to work (in both OS's). These four steps did the trick for me!
Of note:
--My network cards were already en0 and en1
--I've never had an issue accessing the App Store
Thanks!
