I'll hopefully post more on this in the future but doing a complete rebuild of this based 10.15.5.
DEFINTITELY need to set Fixownership ON for the USB or you won't boot in Unibeast or Multibeast.
Catalina works natively with an NVMe 970 Pro 500GB Drive as my boot - no special work arounds...
I really like your solution to the MacPro problem - I'd love your plans to save reinventing the wheel. If I get it converted to Autocad I'll be happy to share on in this post also.
Great job though!
I can also confirm I got an X540-T2 card flashed from Intel to Smalltree. Spent alot of time trying the FakePCIID route but gave up and went deep - worked first time. Just make sure you check your working as you flash and work out address locations.
Also, I discovered I was getting terrible motherboard related warble coming out my monitor speakers (via a Blackmagic Intensity Pro) and found this post -

In the BIOS (either rev1 or 2), on the " Advanced CPU Features" sub-page of the "MB...
Just an update on how my setup is going -
It's been running pretty much flawlessly for the last 4 months, and a couple of weeks ago I setup a Apple software raid setup for the OS drive running off 2x 150gb WD Raptors. I'm getting 300MB/s. The bios raid doesn't work fyi.
It does work in Snow Leopard natively - but won't boot on a real Mac Pro.
I have read of people getting them working for boot drives. I have one here and am going to give it a try going in the next few days if I can't get a normal software raid going.
I thought I would post some confirmation that 10.6.5 seems to be working well.
I also updated my BIOS to F6 before hand, then installed 10.6.5 combo and then updated my DSDT to the newer F6 version.
Sound does get lost but can be fixed with multibeast.
I am getting a KP on restart at the...
I successfully had it running with native power management in 10.6.3 but was getting KPs unless I forced boot into 32bit mode. If you figure out a 64bit method - do share.
No prob - the ram speed set at bios level - no matter what OS-X reports - if its set at 1600 in the bios - its running at that speed. You can use OSX86 tools to change the info in About My Mac and/or adjust the smbios.plist to get it more accurate in system info - but theres not technical reason...
Use my extras folder from this post - viewtopic.php?p=23239#p23239. It's for a UD3R with a i7 930.
The sound is digital interference that is being transfered by components being close together and not well insulated/cheap. I get it through our Blackmagic Intensity cards sound but not out the...
I just copied my AppleHDA.kext from my backup second boot - which is the AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.2. Once I did that - along with the old/current LegacyHDA.kext and DSDT it all worked on reboot. So nothing special - same LegacyHDA & DSDT.
It should work fine with any 10.6 install.
I can't be sure as far as you gfx card goes, as there haven't been any real macs with HDMI (until now). Something could have been changed in the apple drivers and it has by coincidence broken your outputs. I had an ATI 4890 card that had...
Try booting and typing -v on the menu. This boots the DVD in verbose mode and show a bunch of info and what is crashing it. One general recommendation is to install with just 2gb of ram to start with and install more once its working.
10.6.4 update
Well I've updated to 10.6.4 - it's working but not with out some issues.
You'll need to rollback to AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.2 again but otherwise sound works.
The big one -
The old sleepenabler.kext causes KP and will need updating (see this file/thread). I found that after...
