Thanks, yes, I want a new case, basically use the Dell Optiplex component (apart from the MB) in a totally new case, to make it a better experience. The only thing I want to delete is the MB as I know it won't fit any other custom case.
I have the SFF and I'm told it's easier to just replace the MB and some come dirt cheap + as I still have the RAM problem, a motherboard switch should fix that and I would be able to run 32gb of RAM dual channel.
trs96, I was thinking of making a case swap for my Optiplex 9020, is there a motherboard you would recommend that would also fit for Monterey? Thank you.
Well, in France the Timetech SSD is the same price as the UK. I already got a brand new Crucial 1tb second hand, so no Timetech for me. Though nvme might be the next upgrade.
It was, it went a bit further when I placed it horizontally, and now it's all gone with the new RAM slotted in. I think the RAM problem might have something to do with the PSU and how it powers the board.
That's right when you get this, it's usually you bypassed some instruction and didn't format the SSD in the exact configuration stated. Happened to me a couple of times, and I sorted it out by re-reading the data on the first page. There's so much data, you have to take it slow and follow step...
So I checked out and really the seller sent me his best unit. He has other, but they are older built (you can tell from the Windows sticker outside of the box) and battered. However I spent more time online searching, and here's might be the solution you suggested there:
On a Dell forum, a guy...
He's not too far, so I might just pop in, will see. The RAM as acted funky again, so I put the original RAM back in, and will bring the full set back to the store for a refund. I'm guessing it has to happen with second hand stuff.
I googled the problem, and it seems very common even for brand...
Thanks, yes I tested all four memory modules in the slots that work, ran diagnostic on them and the ram is all fine.
The four sticks work in the other slots 4 & 2, just not in dimm 3 and 1.
I contacted the seller, he'll probably have to replace the computer, lucky me he has tons of them in stock.
My Hynix is 11-12-A1 so this might explain why it doesn't work right. No matter, I'll send it back the seller agreed when I bought them. I'll try to find the exact specs on ebay.
EDIT actually after googling, it's just faster memory with the same specs.
Now, I have deleted MacOS and reinstated...
SFF. I only have 16gb total. I'm certain the RAM slots work well and this isn't a hardware problem. Probably we need to set the RAM up BEFORE doing the opencore Hack and MacOS install if choosing MacMini configuration, as something in MacOS refuse a MacMini config to use 4 RAM slots (unless they...
Sorry, I'm a bit of a newbie to this. ;)
Oh no, I meant, I put it back fine in the original slot, but I got the orange light again.
I checked the slots they are all fine and clean. I'm sure it's a problem that probably relate to Dell handling of memory, and since I already hacked the whole...
Normally 32 gb, I bought 4 Hynix / Timetec 4gb sticks for a total of 16gb, and all 4 works in the slots 4 & 2 in single channel (ie only 8gb at a time). I think when I took out the original RAM to check the specs, and put it back something happened as I couldn't get it back in it's original...
So I received the replacement RAM, however I must have accidentally set up the RAM in single channel mode when I originally took the computer apart. All the RAM I have is Hynix to correct specs, but the machine only boots when I put the sticks together in slots 4 & 2.
When I put them all in, I...
SFF as they are "slim" style. Regular burners that can read UHD/BR/DVD are a dime a dozen, but the slim ones are scarcer with Blu-ray and UHD options, you find mostly just DVD versions of them online. Use for either Windows or MacOS (though with the move to 64 bits, MacOs options to rip DVDs are...
trs96 I browsed the threads, but couldn't find any post suggesting a replacement for a Dell 7020 or 9020 DVD burner. I'm looking for at least a Blu-ray burner that can fit it, or even better, a UHD reader/BR/DVD burner (burning UHD doesn't matter). Any suggestion?
