    Thank you all so much, I reflashed A20 and did everything to the letter creating installer as suggested. I'm going for a lie down I think I must have messed up the var instructions on my initial try and there were remnants. Thank you!

    Yes brand new battery, after bios reset the date goes back to that. I have changed it in setup now but the failure still sticks

    Thank you so much, that EFI booted so I could see the text included, thankfully showing the error, I know this means the bios var files need adding in? but I have done this 4 times now and I'm left with a circular dell logo and no bios boot. I know this means I must be entering them incorrectly...

    I'm going to attempt this in a few days when all the parts turn up, I'm not too confident I'll get the bios efi folder things correct, hopefully people will be kind enough advise me. God help me
