You know, that was the case for me for a while too in Sierra but right now (10.12.5), I'm seeing "No drivers are loaded". I also can't get my thunderbolt to firewire to work right now, even though I see a Thunderbolt drive if attached at boot time.... I'm trying to get my legacy Motu firewire...

SOLVED!! In case anyone stumbles across this needing an answer: Following info in this thread, I finally was able to create a USB boot drive using Rufus, and using the installed DOS, flashed the firmware of the card to 2.3.0.1058 No more weird, excruciatingly long boot times - yay!
