Asus ProArt z790 - BIOS updates!

Yes. But not only that. Disabling IOMMU would have worked just temporarily. As I wrote, I disabled it, system booted, but after a few power cycles it did not boot anymore. So that wasn't the right solution. I have no clue! That's why I commented saying "Wow it works! How you guys keep updated...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

This line confirms my suspects that, at least, it needs new thermal pads. Thank you for your dedication :) Mhhh this is interesting. The little preview frame is black when running CB R24 on macOS w/ Reference 6950 XT. But it works just fine under Win 11. macOS installation is pretty fresh and...

Asus ProArt z790 - BIOS updates!

That's the same exact setting I flipped in this post [which I edited afterwards, seeing it did not help] but it turned out not to be the right solution. It was more of a coincidence. You can enable IOMMU back and: add slide=0 boot-arg as indicated here by the excellent @racermaster That one...

    My first mini-ITX system

Here :) I am also wondering on a Mini ITX build. A cool alternative, if you have some DDR4 lying around, is [SUCCESS] Celeri's "Silent Mini Beast" — Z690M-ITX/ax + i5-12600 + RX 6600. Whoops, UtterDisbelief beat me to it..

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Thank you so much for the time you spent writing it. I was a little bit in a rush, so I took SmackAttack's aml file. It works, just a couple of adjustments needed. :) THANKS! It would be interesting if we could compare our findings; here are a couple of thoughts based on my experience owning a...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Hi etorix! Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know that thread, but in this post in that same thread SmackAttack asked a question which did not find a definitive answer. Fast forward, I knew he posted the reply I quoted above, which is the ‘evolution’ of the question he asked. So I thought to ask...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Hi SmackAttack, As I am testing a 6950XT, could you tell me which method did you use to spoof the 6950XT through SSDT? Did you use the one on dortania website? https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Universal/spoof.html Could you share your SSDT please? I think I'd just need to...

Asus ProArt z790 - BIOS updates!

Hi. me too Never happened here. I would try shutting down your computer and, while it is in the process of shutting down, disconnect ALL of the USB peripherals (could be a good idea if you keep just your mouse and keyboard, so you can disconnect just these two during shut down process). Report...

Fenvi T919 and Broadcom wifi back in Sonoma with OCLP

Sorry, just some Latin spilling over. lol. I meant the procedure. Okay, that’s fine with me. So no need to disable anything in order to update. I just wanted to double check the procedure before updating. I see pastrychef also reported his experience a few posts earlier: Will try over the...

Asus ProArt z790 - BIOS updates!

Yes, if you check here and you follow the next few messages, you will see how's the situation. as I wrote at the end, I'll stick with BIOS 1501 and then report. I would like to write a couple of lines to be included in CaseySJ's thread, so that people find a guidance for (us) Z90 Creator users...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Thanks. I'll keep 1501 instead and check over the next week whether slide=0 fixes it. I'll report back.

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Apologies for insisting: are you saying that earlier, on 1501, without slide=0, it did not boot at all but it does now without it? If this is what you are saying, be aware my system used to boot 1501 without slide=0. But, at times, it just did not. Now I am on 1501 w/ slide=0, let's see if it is...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Wow that was better than manually tweaking it :) you had a decent degree of luck for booting 4 stick @ 6000MT on a Z690. But you should (at least) run OCCT in Windows with these settings: Large data set / Extreme. That's to be sure it is stable. Then a few hours of TM5 with absolut profile. The...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Thank you so much for chiming in. You wrote: So boot-arg slide=0 would be necessary to fix the random boot issues? Have you tried any other BIOS? I tried 14xx and 1501. At the moment: Z790 Creator, BIOS 1501 Sonoma 14.1.2 Opencore 0.9.7 slide=0 boot-arg AirportItlwm works By the way, I came...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

What's the XMP like? Deffo not an extreme one Which sticks? ...but you had two and then installed two more, right? So it's two sets, right ? As per my testings, 2703 is a good one. 2802 might not be better, but it really depends on individual config. I'd say, get to 2703, but let me know...

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

That’s not how it works. Need to adjust voltages accordingly. Keep in mind XMP also changes voltages so it’s not like you are gonna fry anything just from bumping voltages from the ones set at 4800MT/s.
