Having Problems with an Ice Lake laptop

Hello, I tried to install macOS on my Ice Lake laptop (mentioned in my hardware profile) using the Dortania install guide (Link to the Ice Lake plist configuration from Dortania), but I keep getting this kernel panic whenever I try to do so: I'm attaching my OC folder as well, to see if I am...

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Oh, thought I removed -npci=0x3000, I'll do that. Also, for my other boot arguments, have I entered them right? Thanks.

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Hey @Feartech, I keep getting this error when I try to install: I've attached my OC folder as well. Thanks for your help!

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

The recovery basically downloads this small installer file (to boot into the installer), but not the entire operating system. As such, the recovery installer downloads the operating system as you install it (meaning it requires internet access when the installer is running). The full installer...

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Yeah, sadly, I don't know if that option will ever be available, just because Big Sur uses a different way for installing macOS with the recovery :(. I think the only viable solution is to just download Catalina and upgrade to Big Sur after the Catalina install is complete.

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Interesting, I checked in ProperTree too, and it shows the correct values. On notepad, it shows "AAAbWQ==". It should be the same on both though...

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Hmm, doesn't look you have changed to IntelMausi, as on my end it still shows "RealtekRTL8111" in your kexts folder and the plist. Download "IntelMausiEthernet.kext", copy it to your kexts folder, delete "RealtekRTL8111", and then modify these two parts of your plist...

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Could you attach your EFI so we can have a look at your kexts and config.plist?

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

I believe the problem is coming because you haven't set your ig-platform-id correctly. Take a look at this screenshot: Your processor is a Kaby Lake system. I'm not sure if it is Kaby Lake-R or just Kaby Lake, but either way you should set your "AAPL,ig-platform-id" to the one specified in the...

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Thanks! Don't have to deal with OpenCore updates for Big Sur now, I can just directly download and install :).

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Maybe @Feartech can help you if you attach your EFI. This doesn't look right. What systems are you both using? Edit: I looked at both of your hardware profiles and it's not detailed enough. Please specify your exact system (like HP Pavilion 15-cs3153cl) in the "Motherboard" section, your exact...

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

I think I'm going to try with your recommended ig-platform-id first, hopefully it will work good! But if not, I'll try doing some other ones, and then I'll let you know if it works out :).

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Hey @Feartech, I read some articles that specified some Ice Lake processor related problems, mainly with the "G1" style (for example, i5-1035G1) processors with graphics acceleration not working. Is that still the case? Or, if there is a solution, what should I do to make graphics acceleration...

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Oh, interesting, I thought 0.6.3 is required for Big Sur, nice to see 0.6.2 is compatible too :). Just curious though, if I used gibMacOS for OpenCore, what config.plist changes should I make?

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

So does this mean that when we download Catalina with OpenCore using gibMacOs, it uses OpenCore 0.6.3 (to directly update to Big Sur from the app store)? Or do we need to manually upgrade OpenCore after the Catalina recovery install to 0.6.3? Thanks!

Hey @Feartech, any update for Tiger Lake processors (for the config.plist configurations in post 2)? Thanks!

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

Hey @Feartech, are the attached basic kexts for booting compatible with Big Sur? Or should I swap them out? Thanks!

[Guide] Booting The USB Installer Using OpenCore

@Feartech Hey, just had a quick question. If I were to use a Mac to create my installer USB (I was able to find a compatible one to download from the Mac App Store), the network kext isn't necessary, even though your EFI folder has the network kext included. Should I do an OC snapshot in...
