So what ended up working to boot properly with CSM support enabled was Setting XHCI Handoff → Enabled. I thought for sure I had done this, but triple-checking revealed I had not. I have no idea why (is it obvious from the logs?), but worth leaving here in case others search for it in the future...

That's correct. All the BIOS parameters are also set according to your instructions in the mini-guides.

Sorry about that! I am on macOS 11.2, OpenCore 6.6.0, BIOS firmware F9i (also occurs on F9g). What happens at boot without verbose mode enabled is that it hangs on the Apple logo. Turning on verbose mode shows me the output I provided, but I'm not getting anywhere trying to decipher it through...

Are there any benefits to using F9i over F9g? In principle I would guess there must be improvements, but it sure is nice not having to worry about CFG-Lock on F9g. Likewise, should F9j be used if we don't need USB 3.X on thunderbolt?

Yep, I learned the hard way that that particular kext (in clover or opencore, I think) messed with my magic keyboard input, and the reason was that I would accidentally enable it with ProperTree. It might be a good idea to put a small disclaimer about ProperTree or just disabled (but present)...

I am too - I wasn't sure if it was Big Sur or if I was just closer to the machine and noticing it more (I have been on the betas and never noticed increased fan noise). It seems to be on full blast all the time now.

@CaseySJ I deleted the bluetooth plist file ,and that solved my bluetooth issue... but it also broke the wifi. Switching the fenvi away and back to the 1x slot, deleting the airport/networking/bluetooth plists, and resetting NVRAM on first boot set things back to normal. Worth putting this on...
