VoodooHDA Issue using NVidia HDMI not AudioPorts (Fixed!!)

Thanks for your post. How did you find your device id? Is there some command or tool I can run to find out? I want to try your solution on a couple Gigabyte boards (GA-EP45-DS3L and GA-P55A-UD3). Both use ALC 888 for sound. I've got a GTX 460 installed on my EP45 (and waiting to install my...

OSX freeze after installing official nVidia Fermi drivers

I was about to suggest this as well. I read from a similar thread on insanelymac about possible Fermi freezing issues that someone had a music video looping in the background to prevent OS X from freezing. He noticed that low CPU/GPU activity, like just web surfing or anything that does not...

    New Forums :) Thanks!

Yeah! Thanks for the new forum sections, especially the Laptop section. It's good timing. Coincidentally, I got handed a Asus Eee netbook to borrow for a little while so I've been thinking of putting a Hackintosh partition on it, and lo and behold now there is a forum for laptops here. Nice!

    New Core i5/i7 Macbook Pros.

Yeah, those MBPs look nice. I'd like to upgrade mine, but it's still working fine (early 2007) model. Very pricey but they do last a long time. Although not I'm getting more reluctant to spend around $2000 for laptops these days, but man these are tempting. I wonder how hot they get. My...

    Software Development

Yeah maybe that would be cool, provided there are enough people participating. I imagine some people building Hackintosh as cheaper alternatives to buying Mac for iPhone/iPod/iPad development.

    Objective-C Programmers - Question.

Yeah, there isn't a simple concatenate operator like "+" or "." unfortunately. You could make your own function that emulates it, I imagine. Given that, there are many ways of manipulating strings, using NSStrings by initially formatting them, or by appending strings to them. Or you can use...

    keyboard and mouse recommendations?

I like Apple Mighty Mouse but I had a couple of them go bad at work, but these were 2008 models, and while we did replace them, for home I stick to Logitech mice like the Logitech MX518 which it's oodles of extra buttons, extra wheel control (move it side to side) etc. Great for photoshop macros...

    iPhone OS 4.0 Preview......

A nice update. Too bad it won't hit iPad until fall (still waiting on my iPad 3G pre-order). When are iPod Touch refreshes? September usually? I was thinking of getting one and almost bought a 1st gen for cheap but I'm glad I didn't since OS 4.0 only applies to 2nd GEN and higher with 3rd GEN...

    Objective-C Programmers - Question.

I'm no Objective-C guru, but does this page help? http://www.cocoadev.com/index.pl?NSTask I haven't done much command-line programming with Objective-C, mainly focusing with Cocoa/Cocoa Touch. But I hear ya on using strings in Objective-C. It can be weird to work with at first. I'll usually use...

    LOST

Hmm...good point. I'll have to watch that beach conversation again. Both those actors BTW, are from a couple of my favorite TV shows -- Mark Pellegrino/Jacob from "Dexter", and Smokey/Titus Welliver from "Deadwood". In fact there have been a number of "Deadwood" actors on the shows, and from...

Great deals on Mac software bundles

Re: Great deal on Mac software bundle - Macheist Nanobundle 2 Thanks for that. I'm tempted. Guess I'll have to read up some more on the various apps. I just loved Monkey Island series (own them already) so I'm mainly tempted by this 5-part new installation of the series.

    LOST

That last episode was a good one, probably made it to my "favorites list" of Lost episodes. The ones with Ben Linus always are. Seeing Ben doing his machiavellian power moves in a school environment, cracked me up. Also, I don't know why but the ones involving children are getting to me, tugging...

    LOST

He might have been in "Sukiyaki Western Django", a quirky Japanese Western movie. I haven't seen it but I probably should considering I like many other things that are "django" related. Django Reinhardt the gypsy jazz player who played so fast and well with only 2 fingers since he disfigured...

    LOST

Lots of black and white for sure, as per lostpedia page on "black and white" in lost. Maybe lostpedia needs a "grey" page too. =) Maybe you should add a "grey" topic on lostpedia. =) Dogen rocks on the show. Love dthat last episode that showed off the actor's, Hiroyuki Sanada's martial arts...

    Completely non-computer related. And zombies.

Ooh the mention of "Lycans" reminds me of Kate Beckinsdale "Underworld" flicks. Also I've got Vampire board games too...samurai-themed board games, art thieving board games, etc etc...

Do you own a real Mac?

That is an insane collection computers. Maybe we need to start a picture thread somewhere. =) Your mention of the Apple IIci made me think of my Apple IIe. I wonder what's the lifespan on old 5 1/4" floppies? I think I could still find my old Apple IIe, but I'd be sad to find out that it didn't...

    ATI 5770

That would be awesome. I've been looking at the 5770 or 5850 (although the 5830 is finally launched too but I hear the 5850 is a better card).

Zombies! I'm a fan too (although it's weird to say being a fan of dead things that want to eat your brains, but I guess I'll leave that to psychologists...). Have you checked out "Last Night on Earth" zombie game? My friends and I love it. It's like playing your own B-movie horror movie...

    i5 / H55 motherboard rig

Yeah a person named everdone on the insanelymac forum got a H55 board running. Someone pm'ed me some of his notes. If you want to try, I can send them to you. It didn't look that rough, if you are an experienced hackintosh builder. Otherwise if it's all new to you, take thelostswedes' advice...
