    [SUCCESS] ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero - i7-7700K - 32GB RAM - Intel HD630 > EVGA GTX 1070 SC2 > AMD Sapphire RX580 Pulse

Have a look at my last update in the very first post of this thread and make sure you've got everything set as it is there. Also, you should be using 18,3 as your SMBIOS as it's closer to hardware spec than 14,2.

As JC says, performance won't be stellar with the HD630. If you have the room in your case, you could add another GPU, and disable the 1080 with a boot flag, so it would still be available to Windows.

A successful weekend and day today. I've added an update to the first post, but essentially, installed the RX580, fixed audio front-panel and general issues, fixed hardware GPU acceleration (forgot to remove a fake ID - doh!), and got my startup chime back! Only thing I haven't tested so far is...

Thanks both for your replies - I knew I could count on you! I think I'll go to Mojave (ensuring I have the apfs.kext in place as I'm still on HFS+). Seems to be the least painful route, and I think upgrading in-situ will be the first thing I try. I'll have two complete clones before I start...

I didn't think I'd ever upgrade this again, but with the prospect of me buying Apple hardware once again once the transition to ARM-based silicon is complete, and the EOL of High Sierra with the release of Big Sur, an Intel-free future for Apple has meant I want to eek a couple of more years...

My system is definitely not as stable or functional after upgrading to High Sierra. I'm almost considering a from-scratch installation at some point. I don't want to spend any more money on it so not going to change GPU and thus remain on High Sierra.

Just discovered that even though sound out of the line out socket at the rear of the case is working, my front panel headphones and mic sockets no longer work. Not entirely sure how to fix this one!

The switch was prompted by a discussion about it here, and mainly because the 18,3 definition contained support for the Kaby Lake processor family, which we're using. It's just more aligned with the hardware this system is pretending to be! Ad for noticeable advantages, it's difficult to say. I...

Added an update to explain why I took this build back to HFS+.

Apple Chime at Startup Added to Clover

Using the Goldfish64 package, it works, but is at ear-splitting volume, and changing the volume setting in the Clover Bootloader options has no effect. Is this related to NVRAM, I wonder.

Finally forced by Adobe to upgrade to High Sierra (yes, I know, I'm on the bleeding edge!). Updates added to guide. The startup chime being the only problem I'm left with after the upgrade seems like good value to me.

DIY Startup Sound - a clean way to do....

After upgrading to High Sierra, the chime doesn't occur until I get to the desktop, then cuts out before it finishes. Prior to this, it played just before the OS X login screen appeared. Any idea how I get it to play earlier again?

@wellingtonborges - This build is based on an IX board. You're better off trying in the High Sierra Desktop Support forum to begin with. Make sure you add full details of your system to your profile so that people can help you: https://www.tonymacx86.com/forums/high-sierra-desktop-support.190/

No, I think I might have confused the issue. With the previous update (2018-001) I ran into the same issue, and at that point, that updater tool didn't work for me, and I had to wait until new drivers were released. I'm just saying that it's perhaps not necessarily going to work for all...

I'm still on Sierra, yes. I just had to wait until the new drivers were released (I'm talking previous to this SecUpd), and I'm on 378.05.05.25f10.

Glad you got that working, Bob. I tried to do exactly that when I accidentally updated to the last security update in Sierra. It didn't work for me. Not saying it won't, but just a warning that there are possibly other things at play that might make it not work on all Hacks.

Good to know that's working for you again, @JCMunsonII - gave up on the Logitech - no new drivers and the HP mouse is fine! I'll be staying on Sierra for a while yet, I think!

Doh! In the continuation of the freezing mouse saga, I was getting SO fed up with it this morning, I was on the verge of moving to High Sierra. The thing that is stopping me at the moment is that this is a production machine, and work is so crazy at the moment that I can't risk the downtime. The...
