macOS 12.3 Update Causes Problems for 5700/6800/6900 Graphics Cards

Be aware that if you're running a 6800/6900XT there are serious performance issues with 12.3, my geekbench score dropped by about half. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/rx6800-slow-in-os12-3-beta.2333537/

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

As far as I know that is correct, there is no going back unless you made a complete backup (clone).

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

Yes, when I boot into 12.2 score is 195k, but on 12.3 they are 95k.

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

Any chance you're running one of the 12.3 betas? My scores are half what they are in 12.2, this is not a good sign, thought it was just me as no-one else has reported the problem. Seems like a driver change. I'm running a stock 6900 XT.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

For me abysmal graphics performance continues in 12.3 betas using 6900XT, GB metal scores down to 85k from 200k in 12.2. Hope they fix it soon, they must be tweaking the drivers or subsystem.

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

Noticed you're using 12.3 beta. For me, the latest beta of 12.3, my GB scores took a huge dive, less than half of what they were before. Did you try on 12.2?

    RX6800XT

Don't laugh at this, but move your mouse around while the tests run. I draw a figure eight on the screen completing one each second. Took my scores from 150k to 200k on a 6900XT. Seems some of the cards don't increase their clock speeds until there is some load, more than GB provides, or that is...

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

Running Designare Z390 with 9900k, 6900 XT reference and seeing similar results around 160k mostly. Did see a 197k one time but that was some Geekbench silliness me thinks. Noticed that if doing some other task like scrolling in a browser window while the test is running, the score does seems to...

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

Just received a nice new reference RX 6900 XT and it's running great so far. One thing I noticed, is that when moving the mouse pointer over a link, and it changes, the position of the pointer jumps momentarily then returns to the correct location. Had this on my previous XFX 5700. Just the IGPU...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Seems to be fine so far, but then I'm not running much that can cause problems.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Working well here also after the update. Hope I made all the same BIOS changes as before, so far it's working just like before. Interesting item in their release notes: Enable Resizable Base-Address Register (Resizable-BAR) option to enhance GPU performance. Never mind, failed to boot when...

Use PCIe 4 NVME SSD in PCIe 3 mobo?

If dual booting, it is strongly recommended to use a separate drive, else you stand a pretty good chance of having problems. I use an older SSD for my Windows 10 and have had no problems that way. Yes, I use the Sabrent 2TB for MacOS. Installed Catalina 10.15.4 and have updated to 10.15.6. Good...

    macOS 10.15.3 Update

Running good so far here on Z390 Designare with 9900K & 5700 XT.

Use PCIe 4 NVME SSD in PCIe 3 mobo?

Similar boat here, just installed a Sabrent 2TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 and getting 2,700 MB/s read & writes on an old z170-E. Hopefully soon getting a Z390 and expecting improved speeds, but that may be wishful thinking until PCIe 4 arrives.

    << Solved >> AMD Radeon RX5700 or 5700XT

I noticed that too, but after seeing a video with a 5700 XT on the new 2019 MacPro achieving a similar score in the upper 49,000 I'm not too worried as it appears to be bad data point.

    << Solved >> AMD Radeon RX5700 or 5700XT

Don't you need 10.15.2 to support 5700 XT?

List of AMD Radeon Navi cards in Catalina That work.

Installed a XFX - RX 5700 XT RAW II 8GB and running without any issues on Catalina. Went from RX 570 and had to add agdpmod=pikera and remove Inject ATI when switching over. When enabling the 530, the monitor goes to sleep briefly just before the login screen. UPDATE: Latest Clover 5102 seems...
