Three weeks ago I swapped my Sapphire RX 5700 XT for a Powercolor RX 5700 XT, and I figured I was done dealing with the 5 minute freeze problem. Well, now as of yesterday, it is back. I of course assumed I had done something software wise, and reverted to my known working backup. But the...
It wont wake from sleep, and completely freezes at 6 minutes if i am not using it. I sorta solved it by swapping out for my brothers RX 570 and it works great. So I bought myself a RX 590 but it wont boot. Now I am looking for something that has at least a bit of confirmed reliability behind it.
What model of 5700 XT do people have working? I have already tried the Sapphire RX 5700 XT and it suffers sleep issues. I tried a 590 XT and one works, one doesn't.... I don't want to buy every video card under the sun. But I need something in the $600 range, that is great.
For me the WiFi worked immediately. Played with kexts and all sorts of stuff and never had Bluetooth. So I sent it back. It worked on Windows. So I know my USB header was connected properly.

Interestingly enough the card wouldn't show up in windows on either my machine or my brothers Ryzen 2700 machine. Maybe a defective card? Worked fine on mac except for the freezing.
My computer freezes after exactly 6:02 minutes of no activity. I tried all the sleep freezing suggestions and haven't seen any improvement. Until just now, I swapped my rx5700 xt for a rx570 and no longer have any freeze/sleep issues. I'd like to keep the 5700 as it is a WAY better card, but...
I have the same problem. Was unable to get the Bluetooth to show up. It is supposed to show up under USB devices. So it may have something to do with the limited USB ports.
I opened activity monitor and just opened lots of windows playing different youtube videos until I could see that I was actually using all that ram.. It will report in About This Mac as well though.
No luck. I even tried swapping new sticks of ram, 8gb modules thinking it might be something related to my specific sticks of ram. No luck there either. I am not sure if it is a sleep issue. I got the bright idea to check the clock when i stopped touching the computer vs when the clock...
Hey, I had this issue. In clover configurator you will need to go SMBIOS -> Memory, and add 8 entries starting at 0. Then tell the computer you have 8 sticks of 16 gb RAM. I only have 64 gb, but I have attached a screenshot that shows you essentially what you need to do.
I followed the newest experimental guide, and after @CaseySJ helped me figure out the memory issue, haven't had any problems. Except one. if I leave my computer for more than 10 minutes it freezes. It will go to and wake from sleep (provided I am in the 10 minute window). Screensaver will turn...
I am having nearly the same issue, with nearly the same build hardware. I do have the z390 designare mobo, i9 9900k, rx 5700xt and 32x2 gb Crusial ddr4 ram 2666. If i leave my computer for more than 5 minutes... even if it is doing a task the whole thing freezes up.
I am having a similar problem where my mac freezes after 5 minutes of inactivity. I am using three monitors all hooked up via a DP to HDMI cable. I tried deleting AppleALC.kext and SmallTreeIntel82576.kext. On another thread they said to run a terminal command to get the log files. I am...
@CaseySJ Thank you! I got it working. I changed the SMBIOS settings to say 4 sticks of 16gb ram and it now recognizes my 2 sticks of 32gb Ram. I added the type and frequency, didn't bother with serial numbers or part numbers. Though I suppose I could add those so they serial number will show in...
I followed the experimental Catalina 10.15.2 guide and am having an issue I think is related to the RAM that I am using. When I use my vengeance LPX DDR4 32gb x 2 the boot hangs on the apple logo, when I swap out with some cheap random 8gb x 2 sticks (on a previous attempt using Orilia, I got...
