I've found a way to disable the error. Seems erroneous since the drive was formatted as GUID in macOS. I end up doing clean installs often enough that I'll probably wipe and redo it eventually anyways. That's just not a project for today. :)
Thanks, @pastrychef
I've attached pictures of the error since that will be more beneficial than me trying to explain it. Ultimately, I get this error that gates the boot process, but if I enter setup and quit setup immediately, the computer boots just fine. It's just an annoyance at this point and doesn't appear to...
I also noticed that having HDMI and DP plugged in seems to cause a severe stutter in visuals on the screen. Is that known behavior? It was doing it with 10.15.2 and 10.15.3. I've since removed the HDMI cable and am just using DP.
I'm also getting a GPT error from the mobo on boot. I tried the...
Hi all, I'm back with an update. @pastrychef, the EFI you made for me seems to be working just fine. I assume I'm safe to copy it to the boot drive and do the rest of the steps with clover?
That sounds great! I haven't ever messed with sidecar. I haven't installed the wireless card that works natively in this build yet, so sidecar isn't necessary. I may get to that at some point, but not today. :) So, future? Maybe. Soon? No.
You don't have issues because you do it correctly. ha...
Hi everyone! I hope you're well. :) Pinging @pastrychef @nch107 @iDrakus @ModMike @Gigamaxx
I wanted to say thank you for the help you all gave me back in November. I was the guy with the bummer CPU that ended up costing us days of troubleshooting. I'm starting the process of bumping my build...
I'll post the latest EFI tomorrow. I'm taking the night off. ;) I'll ping you when I post it so you can take one final look. Thanks!
Is there a resource you like about Fake/VirtualSMC? I'm happy to read up on it if it's a realistic endeavor. I'd like to monitor temps during long renders if...
Oh, and obviously a huge thank you to @pastrychef, @Gigamaxx, @nch107, @ModMike, and anyone else who contributed to solving this problem. @iDrakus and @azenvarn for verifying correct functionality on known-good hardware so I was forced to find the real problem. THANKS!
My next request: is there some way to monitor temps and actually get active fan controls working from within macos? I'm happy to pay for software if there is something, but I'm not sure where to look for that.
I haven't tried the dynamic option yet; I'm just happy to be functional.
I spent the day playing with various hardware configurations using my mini-itx machine. It was my 9700K causing the problems. It ran on my mini-itx board without any modifications (which had a 9900K in it as a mini...
Nope. Froze again. Screw it. I'm going to bed and swapping the board out for the z390-i tomorrow and will test that configuration. The ONLY difference between what @iDrakus and I are running is the board itself.
I'm stress testing it with the EFI from @iDrakus right now. To be quite clear - it will not work if you go into the bios, enable IGPU and reboot. You have to go back into the bios after saving the bios, so it exposes the additional settings. It has to have the 128MB set and the RC6 standby...
I'm quite familiar, I was running his EFI until this new board. Maybe I should just bust out the z390-i tomorrow and see if I can get it running on that. I've been suspicious of this board the whole effing time.
One noticeable difference right off - AppleALC is at 1.4.1 instead of 1.4.3 that we were using. It's also not the updated clover, but idk if that would actually make a difference.
