I have to agree. Support will last for at bar minimum a few years. Apple products often have great resell value. Macs that haven’t been supported in years still sell for decent prices. It’ll also give some time for the arm based systems to come into their own and maybe even the second hand...
In your bootargs, you need to add -v. If your using open core, you might be using something like proper tree to edit your confit.plist. You should be able to search locate this fairly easily by searching in the plist.
I know, right? I’ve considered doing a clean install of the whole system again, but given my workload right now just not feasible at the moment. I’m also starting to wonder if it’s a motherboard issue, because I use to have similar issues with my 5700, but it seemed to “magically” fix itself...
I mostly just don’t get how inconsistent it is. One day I’ll have zero issues, then the next day I can’t stop it from crashing non-stop. Pretty weird and hard to troubleshoot.
I'm sorry for the delay, I didn't even see this. No Premiere is not the only thing. It'll even freeze just sitting idle or watching YouTube.
To the kernel panic log -- there's nothing. It boots like nothing ever happened.
@pastrychef
Okay, so here's where I am after two days of using this.
Everything done that you suggested including turning off XMP.
Yesterday -- Absolutely ZERO issues. Worked flawlessly for about 5 hours.
Tonight -- Different freezing than a couple of nights ago, but still doing it. Now...
So over the last 5 hours I've started to have an issue seemingly out of nowhere. My system just out of nowhere freezes up. The mouse glitches out and then the system requires a hard reboot. I've had similar issues when I first went to Catalina but nothing since. Based on reading other forums...
Thanks for the response! Yeah, I mean even plugged into the board it's fairly quiet and it does ramp up under load just fine. Having said that, I do love the iCue software and using the commander pro in Windows, but it seems like I might just have to keep using the fan headers on the board instead.
Hello Hivemind!
I know using a Corsair Commander Pro can cause some issues like being reported as an UPS, which thanks to some other great threads has been able to be resolved pretty easily. Having said that, has anyone ever got their fans speeds or curves to work using a Commander Pro while...
So far we're like 7/7 or 8/8 on post issues, but I'm definitely going to check out using emuvariableuefi.efi if I have the problem again then! I use to have in my efi folder when I first built this system.
Gotcha, I'll keep working on the iMessage. Out of everything, it's the thing I'm least worried that I can figure out. I've done it before, I'll just keep playing around with it.
Same with the windows efi. I'm sure there has to be a something that will allow me to see that again.
Thanks for...
No luck w/ windows. But we’re 5/5 on restarts without post issues, so might have resolved that. I am over clocking, but I literally just turned it off and then did it again.
My imsssage is weird. I’m receiving texts no problem, just not able to send. Serial and everything seems to be good. I...
yup, booting into Catalina without issues. Here's a video of the posting issue -- every single time after I turn off or restart the system, it boots into safe mode saying it failed to post. Obviously, it's not failing to post because I was just in the system and it goes straight to that AFTER...
Another huge step! I'm now booting from the drive and not the flashdrive. Still having the weird POSTing error and my Windows EFI isn't showing up for some reason, but we're making real progress.
Okay... well, this is the best it's been. I'm in Catalina....but still, just like with opencore, not able to boot without the flash drive. It's almost like there's an issue with my ability to install a bootloader or for my bios to be able to see one. Still having "posting" issues as well, but...
