I think software cloning solutions are quite on par. with offline. Actually in this case, I'm not even fully ready to say offline cloning is as good, or better.
I happened to have this cloning device laying around, and so I thought I could give it a test. So, by all means, I don't think free...
Yes, I get that SuperDuper and CCC works well. And I'm glad you had a good experience with SuperDuper.
I've used CCC, however, I've never used SuperDuper. From my experience CCC works well.
Nevertheless. The question I had was whether offline cloner works as well as CCC or something similar...
Hey, so I finally did the testing of Icy Box IB-2912MCL-C31 Cloner/Dock.
It is very straightforward. Of course, one has to take out the old SSDs. However, the dock itself requires no tools. It comes with two thermal pads, two heatsinks. This model also has a built in fan. It is a very tiny...
Thank you for your answer. Alright. first for everything, right.
I got 512gb MacOS drive Samsung EVO 970, I'll clone it over to 1tb Western Digital SN850 and on 1tb Kingston Renegade 1tb.
I'll do this and report back. :) will try to do it later this week, before weekend, or the weekend. hehe
@CaseySJ or anyone with knowledge about this.
I got this offline cloner . It does M.2 SSDs. I was just wondering if you recommend CCC over this, or do you think it is okay for me to use an offline cloner.
I have actually never used it before, so I thought I could just take use of it, now...
I don't mean to meddle in. But, IMO, just don't use OpenCore Configurator for one to two weeks after a new OpenCore release. Or don't use it at all.
Use something that is reported to be good by the majority.
I use Plist editor Pro or Smultron. But, I'm also a blind user, so it is much easier...
@CaseySJ Or anyone else
I got this issue where it gives me the screen of "American Megatrend" Telling me Ver: 1AU0K99. This is a message I'm getting before booting, quite recently. I've tried to Google search it, but there was no answer.
In order to get rid of this message, I've tried various...
Wouldn't it be more expensive to get Z390 system over Z490 system? It probably depends on location, I guess. In my location, Z390 costs more than Z490 now. Sorry, I'm just curious.
CaseySJ got Gigabyte Z490 Vision D guide too, I believe.
EDIT: I didn't realise earlier that you might've had a...
Yes of course, it is a forum where people should be able to give feedback. You're right. When I give my feedback, I get opinions on that particular matter too. People seem to be open for it on this thread, which is a good thing. I respect your opinion.
I'm sorry you feel this way. The...
I don't mean to meddle myself into this. But I just want to mention my opinion and what I think regarding this. I hope people take certain things in mind.
I'm not saying I know heck of a lot. I do not. I learn from people on this forum, on other forums, reading myself. Reading stuff perhaps...
Just want to comment on this.
I checked CaseySJ's OC 0.6.4 folder. The OpenUsbKbDxe.efi driver is in the "drivers" folder, however, it is not activated. Meaning, it is not listed in the config.plist > UEFI > Drivers. He probably forgot to remove it. But there is no way that driver is doing...
So far, no issues with Big Sur for me. I didn't update over the 10.15.7. Don't have any slow boot issues either.
I didn't get to boot once, but I understood why that was. it was because I had cleared NVRAM, and for some reason I had to enable locked CFG, then "attempt" to boot, and then go...
SUCCESS!
Yippy-kaa-yayyy!
Today, I can sleep happy.
Thank you for helping me out @CaseySJ.
So basically the SPI flasher doesn't work with a regular tiny tip adapter from USB-A to USB-C. I had to go find an older MacBook. I called in with the app called "Be My Eyes", and asked a person to...
so far no luck. Could be because I had to use an adapter from USB-A to USB-C. I didn’t plan on using any hub, but I tried that as well, just to check if the CH341A works. No red light, and no blue light either.
Edit:
The CH341A does work, however. Ironic enough, we tested it plugging it to a...
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, that is the clip that was ordered.
As you can probably can see, the clip is SOIC8 with 8 pins. The ribbon connector is with 8 wires connected to the clip. But the ribbon connector end got 10 pin connectors. Is this wrong?
I think we got the Jumper pins part...
@CaseySJ or anyone else knowing about this.
We're following this guide:** Mini-Guide for Flashing SPI ROM Chips using 3.3V CH341A Programmer ** from 11th August 2020.
We're confused about the part where we connect from the CH341a to the ribbon cable of the clip. The ribbon cable got 10 pin...
