    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ have you tried doing GPU passthrough for VMs on this build? I'm looking to add a second workbench desk with a single monitor using a linux or windows VM but don't want to build a separate PC. Is it possible to get a small AMD gpu, add it in another slot, and do GPU passthrough to a VM?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Yes, I think the fact that I used EasyUEFI kinda fixed the issue with scotch tape and popsicle sticks, but if it breaks again then I know how to properly fix it. I'm not too worried about it, because whenever Big Sir is stable and hackintosh-able, I might switch to 10th gen or just go to a 9th...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

This makes more logical sense than the way I have it. For some reason It looked like, because the timestamps were off, that the BOOT folder was overwritten by Linux so that's why I moved it outside. This is the way I have it right now and it's working as normal. Though, I will follow your...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I think after I tried your first step and couldn't figure out why both now didn't boot, I just created a new boot item, specified the path, and it booted. Wouldn't your second step have done the same thing?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Success. I am now back in MacOS. What I did: - Moved Ubuntu outside EFI folder and created OTHER folder. Also dropped the BOOT into the OTHER. Rebooted. Now Linux, nor Clover would boot and it defaulted to Windows 10 to boot next. Scratched my head. - Used EasyUEFI in Windows to realize that it...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

You were right, for some reason Linux just dropped its own folder in the EFI folder for MacOS. (see screenshot using MiniTool Partition Wizard) I really don't care very much about Linux and I can just run it in a VM like I did before, so should I just delete the Ubuntu folder and try to reboot...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Okay, I admit it. I screwed up. I installed Linux Mint on another NVMe which I added to the Designare board yesterday. After the install, Clover is gone and I can't select to boot to it in the BIOS. Tried these methods but haven't been able to get Clover working. I installed EasyUEFI in Windows...

    Corsair Utility Engine (CUE)

If your goal is to get a specific color scheme going, then I'm not sure what to suggest. Like I said already, I just have my LL's, AIO, and Trident Z on random rainbow cycle and honestly, it looks fantastic. See below. But, maybe give the LL's and the TridentZ a try and see if you can get a...

    Corsair Utility Engine (CUE)

Sorry, meant to reply to this a while ago. I'm running 4 LL's, a Corsair AIO (H115i PRO RGB), some G.Skill RAM, and a Sapphire Nitro+ 5700 XT, and I can't control any of them in MacOS. In Win10, no problem. I was reading through the Corsair threads for iCUE about a year ago and it seemed like...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ, thanks so much for your support. I was able to successfully install 10.15.4 without any data loss. Everything is going smooth with my Vega 56, just some slow wake up issues but I will look through your guide on that first. I wanted to ask if there's anything specific I need to do...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ where can I find the Kext Utility you mention here? I don't remember using that before.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

You're a genius. Yes, that worked and I got booted into Mojave but I have my Nitro 5700 XT in the case, and man, the card was FREAKING out. I'm surprised it booted with the card at all. I have my Vega 56 too I can switch back to if needed. To answer your questions, I did not make a backup. I...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

But I still have 10.14.5 installed on the machine, but I have the EFI ready for 10.15.4. I just tried to boot to my M.2 and it just gets stuck on the Apple logo. Because I have no way to get the M.2 as an external drive and just restore the EFI onto the disk, I'm thinking I should just clean...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ, I made an oopsie. Luckily all my files I care about are in iCloud so I don't care much. When I was following the MSR guide, I accidentally replaced the wrong EFI folder on the wrong EFI that was mounted and now clover doesn't pop up at boot, nor can I boot onto my NVMe with the OS...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

When I go to the path ~/Library/Extensions/ it just brings me to the Library folder, and when I sudo touch /Library/Extensions it doesn't return anything. I still have my EFI mounted but I know that's not really related. But when I sudo kextcache -i / I get a ton of kexts listed. Just want to...

You're right, I see they are .efi now. With this being said, do I still delete them from the Other folder or let them be?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ, when following your Mojave>Catalina guide, you mentioned deleted some Kexts in Library/Extentions, but I don't have an extensions folder, but I see some of those kexts in EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI. Should I delete them from this folder instead?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ, going from 10.14.5 to 10.15.4. In the upgrade guide you posted, you showed how Catalina splits the OS and User onto separate logical drives. I followed your original suggestion of putting MacOS on an NVMe and everything else on a 2.5 SSD, which I am running currently. Will I run into...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ, I’m thinking on implementing a way to remote start and login to my hackintosh (used this build guide with same mobo) and I saw you mentioned IPMI somewhere. Is this a possibility? The problem is I usually turn off the computer when I go to class but when I need to access it, it’s...
