Catalina (10.15) Developer Beta 8 to Developer Beta 9 (19A573a)

Another update: I incorrectly said that this was an update to beta 8. It was actually an update to beta 9 (19A573a).

Catalina (10.15) Developer Beta 8 to Developer Beta 9 (19A573a)

Although I have to say that since it seems to be working at the moment, I'm inclined to just leave all three keys out, on the basis that the fewer differences from the defaults I have, the better. So don't hold your breath for updates.

Catalina (10.15) Developer Beta 8 to Developer Beta 9 (19A573a)

As with the last couple of updates, I found that I had to boot into my "safe" clover config.plist file to get this update to go through. (the "safe" one is just an old config that I had which seems to work in more situations, but isn't as optimised to my particular hardware) Unlike the last...

    Sidecar

Sidecar is working well for me. I have the iPad tethered - haven't actually tried it wireless, as it's a test device that is permanently on my desk.

Doh! Thanks, I've re-uploaded it now.

... and finally it's all working with Clover 5033. Have attached my Clover folder in case it helps anyone else.

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

I managed to get it working with a hybrid of the Clover folder from @foster's post above (with the SSDT-ECUSBX.aml and SSDT-EC.aml files ACPI patches), my old config.plist, and my own SSDT-UIAC.aml which I built with Hackintool. I took Clover and the drivers from the folder @foster uploaded...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

I ditched my corrupted beta 4, re-ran an earlier beta installer I had on my Mojave partition and got back up & running. Then upgraded to Clover 5033. Downloaded the beta 5 updater again. Had just started running the install, and... had a power outage! I live on an island... these things...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

It’s the developer version - might be on a different schedule from the public beta. They also stagger the releases sometimes, so it rolls out slowly. Gives them a better chance of stopping it early if they missed something bad.

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

I'm not convinced that it's stuck at "apfs_module_start:1682:" by the way. I added a few more Kexts to my Clover config - ones that I had installed in the system but not in Clover - and that resulted in a few more log messages after the apfs one during a verbose boot. I suspect what's...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

Warning: Even though the installer never completed, for a while, I could still boot back into the original beta 4. If I chose that partition instead of the installer, it booted ok (and was still on beta 4, according to About This Mac). Now, I can't do that - it crashes hard, early on, and...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

Yeah, when I boot in verbose that's also the last log output I see. It's weird though because that happens very quickly, whereas if I leave it in non-verbose mode the progress bar updates for a long time before hanging. I am also seeing a bunch of ACPI errors before that last line. Not sure if...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

Update #2: So now the installer is running through showing a progress bar (taking quite a considerable time), but then seems to be hanging right at the end. I let it run for about an hour in this state, then shut down the machine - in the hope that it had just hung whilst trying to reboot. When...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

Update: I think the freeze was actually related to my complicated monitor/graphics-card setup - it was switching away to another monitor which either didn't exist or didn't work with the drivers that the installer has. I've simplified things down now to one monitor, plugged in to the onboard...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 4 to public beta 5

I'm having a bit of trouble with this update. After restarting (and selecting the installer volume to boot from) it looks like the installer stalls pretty early on. I'll leave it for a while just in case it's doing something mega-slow, but right now it doesn't look good. Will update this...

Catalina Shows Intel UHD 630 7mb only and no audio Intel i5 8600k

I think you need to pick a different model. The Retina 5K, (which is iMac18,3 I think), only uses the onboard intel graphics for processing, not for display. I had a hell of a time getting it to work properly until I switched to iMac18,1. Try the attached config. You might just want to take...

Catalina (10.15) public beta 3 to public beta 4

This update worked pretty smoothly for me. YMMV! One thing to watch out for (common to all updates, not just this one) is that the boot volume needs to change to a temporary macOS Installer partition, and that it reboots multiple times during the install. If, like me, you are dual-booting...
