    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi! Haha I seem to recall it being a bit of a fire. I have always preferred having them on the EFI - I think I got into trouble once before when I included something catastrophic in /S/L/E or /L/E and couldn't get back into the system to remove them. Not entirely sure though, it's been a...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey, I built my Hackintosh from this guide in February 2019 and came back over the weekend to update it. All the updates worked really smoothly, another testament to this phenomenal resource you've created and your continued efforts. Remarkable! Done: - Updated Clover to version 5115 -...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hey Casey, this thread is getting so long I can't remember - have you installed Windows on a separate drive in your build? The received wisdom seems to be that I need to unplug my Mac and Linux drives during the Windows installation. This is a bit annoying given that they are screwed to the...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Aaaaaaand you've done it!!! All methods of verification show the iGPU is enabled and successfully spoofed. I can't thank you enough for your endless patience and perseverance and expertise and generosity with all the above. Words fail me :)

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Ha, wouldn't that just be ridiculous :) I am as positive as I can possibly be that I am booting from the config.plist in the EFI partition of my Mojave instance. There is no USB connected to the machine. There is one copy of the EFI folder, in a 'Success!!' directory on the desktop. This backup...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Cool - this is my Clover/Devices/Properties device section. I thought it was already configured to spoof 0x3E9B (with the device-id entry): Is it odd that Hackintool reports IntelGen as ?? on the Intel page, and mentions MacMini8,1 at the bottom of that page?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Awesome, again - thank you! I edited my previous post with my IOReg output. No AppleIntelFrameBuffer child node. Here's IOReg after searching for IGPU: And after clicking the X in the search bar: Hackintool screenshots: Edit: in case it's relevant: SMBIOS -> iMac18,3 BIOS -> iGPU ->...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Perfect - I'm back in, and I've learned how to do this for future reference. A valuable lesson, I reckon - thank you! When I rebuilt the kext cache with terminal previously, I simply ran sudo kextcache -i /, not sudo kextcache -i /Volumes/Mojave. Am I correct in assuming that running it on the...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

No joy - here's a shot of my BIOS F12 screen. The first two blank entries do nothing, they return to the boot device selection screen after 1 second. The third blank entry boots Fedora.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Cool - the rationale is solid! I just edited my previous post - I can't reboot into recovery mode with key presses on startup, and I don't see any recovery drives when hitting F12 at startup, but there are some blank/unnamed entries in the list - so I will go through those.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I remember now - this is why somebody advised never to put kexts in the Mac OS drive! :) Can I force the boot process to use only the kexts in the CLOVER/kexts/Other folder on my USB stick, and forget about any in /Library/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions? I enabled -v and debug=0x100...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I just followed that guide. Copied all kexts to /Library/Extensions with terminal, removed all but Lilu, WhateverGreen, and FakeSMC from CLOVER/kexts/Other, and rebuilt the kext cache. Rebooted - and now I'm getting cycling reboots half way through the startup process (just after the startup...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

My board is installed in the lower x1 slot. I don't have a Bluetooth speaker so I can't test that I'm afraid. The only issue I'm having with it is sometimes on boot, the card is detected and I get the Airport logo in the menu bar but I can't Turn WiFi On either from the menu bar or from System...

/Library/Extensions has only the Apple kexts, on the advice of somebody on this thread (can't remember who): Edit: here's a shot of my iStat Menus - the iGPU is not named, it just says 'GPU' and there are no data points:

@CaseySJ whoops, forgot to quote your post. I have - makes no difference. I was also wondering if the NoVPAJpeg kext is more like putting a bandage on the problem, rather than fixing why my iGPU actually doesn't seem to be working? Here's the output of the VDADecoderCheck tool:

For the life of me I can't get this working. Intel Power Gadget shows only blue graphs, not the green graph from kenntkim's screenshot (which I understand represents the iGPU). Per chance could you take a look at my CLOVER directory - continuously very much obliged.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I just tried to quick-look a few files - I can quick-look .mp4 and .png no problem, but .jpg fails to load. This was working previously, so I suspect I've since modified my iGPU definition in Clover/Devices/Properties erroneously. Is this an issue with incorrectly configured headless iGPU? I see...

Hi Casey, in the spirit of giving back to your superb build guide, I wrote up a short procedure to run the NZXT liquidctl script automatically at login. Maybe it's a bit too specific and edge-case but please feel free to add it to your guide if you think it's useful. Configuring the liquidctl...

Sure, it's a Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 56 Pulse. I'm not sure why corpnewt's script wasn't populating my config.plist properly, but hey - it works now! :) Remove the VegaTab_56.kext file from the EFI drive, from System/Library/Extensions, and from Library/Extensions, if you have already placed...
