Upgraded my Asrock Taichi Z390 system from 10.15.2 to 10.15.3 without making any changes. Initially tries installing via system update which appeared to work but after the "update process" I was still on 10.15.2. I then tried installing from download and had the same problem. I finally realised...
Hi all,
I am running Catalina 10.15.2 upgraded from Majove. The upgrade went ok except sound control, used to control the sound level out of my RX580 HDMI port no longer works - I still have audio out of the HDMI interface but cannot adjust the levels so I am not concerned about ti.
My Asrock...
Did you mean you want to migrate to a m.2 PCIE NVMe SSD as opposed to just a m.2 PCIE SSD (i.e. using sata protocol).
Depending on what brand of SSD you purchase, it may include free cloning software. For example, Crucial and WD provide free software providing you have one of their drives in...
I tested both. The WiFi throughput was poor for both 2.4G and 5G however I did not try turning off the Bluetooth to see if the WiFi performance improved.
Have you already purchased the motherboard? If not, do some more research, there are problems with the latest BIOS on Asrock boards. Check if it is possible to downgrade the BIOS if necessary.
I have a Gigabyte Z270X motherboard with a i5-6600 and a Asrock Z390 with an i7-9700 and I can swap my Mojave HDD back and forwards between then and it works without making any changes.
I do not know but suspect it is the top antenna. This is based on testing wifi network by removing all antennas and then testing wifi with one antenna moved progressively from bottom connector to top. The top connector one was the only connector when a known good antenna was used had not wifi...
FYI, I bought this same card new and initially thought everything was great. I soon realised the WiFi throughput was very low and the bluetooth range was not very good. After extensive testing I determined 2 of the antennas were duds. You may find if you put some decent aerials on your card will...
I have seen finder get confused when there are two EFI partitions opened at the same time. I suggest an intermediate step. Mount and open your EFI partition from the original drive and copy it to the desktop. Unmount the EFI partition from the original drive. Mount and open your EFI partition...
Personally I would get the Hackintosh working before you install the graphics card. Once you have fully configured operational Hackintosh (and backed it up) then you can install the graphics card. Then you can determine if you want to run the graphics card headless or otherwise.
Follow the...
My problem keeping the system ASRock build running was, in hindsight, always BIOS related. I wanted the improvements other BIOS version supposedly introduced for NVMe support and memory compatibility and the microcode upgrades for the CPU to address both compatibility reason and address CPU...
No I have not used any of the Gigabyte Z390 however there are others on the forum that have used it and they have not had to deal with the same BIOS limitation I have.
I am not saying I would not use the board you selected, I am saying I would not use the one I selected and based on the...
Based on my personal experience, if I were building another new Hackintosh, I would not use an ASRock Z390 motherboard. Instead I would use a Gigabyte Z390 motherboard.
Check out my secondary system build in my signature below. It is pretty easy to find this motherboard, or one of the other Gigabyte Z270X variants, cheaply on ebay, craigslist etc and they are also still available "new" from old stock. I am running the latest release of Mojave and it works very...
I was able to downgrade my ASRock Z390's system's BIOS from version 4.0 to 1.2 by using the windows BIOS update mechanism. I did not expect it to work because ASRock warn you you cannot downgrade and because the processors microcode was upgraded with BIOS 4.0 I did not have much hope for it but...
