[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

Sounds like they have changed something - that seems like the right place. I know when I was last out there - it had SERIAL NUMBERS. Grizz

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

That is ODD. When I looked at mine, it had 6 machines listed. 2 of them were OLD, OLD "real" MACs I used to own. I was able to delete them, as well as the other 'hackintoshes'. Grizz

You should be able to delete the one with the wrong serial number. At one point I had 3 for the same 7010. I just logged into their web page and deleted the ones which were no longer valid. Grizz

They wanted to do that too with me when I called them. I simply told them as per 'company policy' there was no remote sessions allowed on the network. They guy, said "I understand"... did a little 'click click' on his end - within an hour it was all working again. Grizz

Yes.. https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/optiplex-9010-%28ultra-small-form-factor%29 I have 16GB of RAM in mine, and it is quite fast enough with the Samsung EVO 850 SSD and the Core i5 3475S. Did not require me to add a PCI Video Card to the system. Grizz

That is a good price for the chasis - provided the MB and PS both work. Would certainly allow you to customize the RAM, HDD and CPU. Grizz

trs96, I know the OP7020 has Q87. Know which of the OPTIPLEX familes have the H97 or Z97? This looks like an AWESOME board -- with an awesome price tag too... LOL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RJHN2D/?tag=tonymacx86com-20 Too rich for my blood. Grizz

I have -- Unfortunately Hackintosh no have that. :D :D :D So - strange question to the masses. Any NVMe (boot capable) preferably NVMe on the system board systems out there? Been tried?

Agreed...I also found this one HP E273m - which has everything I want - but not sure if the Audio would be via the DP port or require I plug in a cable to the Audio Out of the computer to the Audio In on the monitor. Also kinda kewl that it has a USB built in (USB 3.0). Problem is this...

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

I would like to keep it under $200 (maybe $250 if I can find a good one). I have heard that the ones with all the built in stuff can be of lower resolution for the camera, etc. I just DO NOT WANT a headset. I have one of those, and nothing like being on a conf call (people on laptops) and you...

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

Some questions (polling) of this group. 1) Do we know if the HD4000 in the OP7010 DT with i5 3475S will work DP to DP? I am looking for a 27 (or better yet 32") monitor with built in CAMERA, MIC and SPEAKERS to do teleconferencing stuff. Has this been tested? 2) Does anyone have any...

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

Since I only have MOJAVE installed - I think my system is auto-booting right into MOJAVE. I rarely reboot the system, so I cannot remember if it stops or not. I wanna play around with some of the CLOVER Themes. But before I do that, I want to make sure I have a fully restorable backup. If...

So you have ONLY the NVMe drive in your machine? If you have CLOVER installed on another drive (of any kind) - then the sytem is not 'truly' booting from the NVMe. I know in the OP7010 - nothing I did would allow me to BOOT the system with ONLY the NVMe drive installed. GRIZZ

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

trs96, I understand that. But the point is...the NVMe drive is "NOT BOOTABLE" in the OP7010 series. I do not want to have a HDD or SSD installed just to hold a boot option, just to pull the rest of the OS off the NVMe. I am happy with the Samsung EVO 960 as my SATA 0 drive, a 500GB HDD...

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

I cannot speak to the HP, but I did some research before returning mine - the Q77 chipset apparently does not support booting from NVMe drives. That started with the Q97 (and higher). If the BIOS on the machine does not support setting the NVMe drive as a boot option - it is not gonna work...

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

I gave up on the SILVERSTONE and EVO 970. I wanted to BOOT from the M.2 card. Not possible with the Q77 chipset. I was not willing to boot from another HDD - just to load an OS from the M.2. I will deal with having a SAMSUNG EVO 960 SSD in both of my Desktop OP7010 machines, and a...

[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

Yes. This new OP7010 was to be a WINDOWS ONLY machine. I got confirmation from DELL and SILVERSTONE - the OP 7010 with the Q77 chipset and IvyBridge do not support any way to BOOT the machine from the NVME. I have returned both the SS NMVE card and the SAMSUNG EVO 970+ M.2 card...
