I did not, my only solution was to format the drive on another mac to the GUID partition which then allowed my system to recognize it.

I honestly just plugged it in and it worked. Also my sleep works as well

I went in and adjusted some of the bios setting and I got in with the recovery drive plugged in (Finally!)
