"This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with email" at start up

I finally solved this problem. Well, I hope! In iCloud preferences, I unchecked almost everything. I only left Photos and Contacts checked. In Keychain, I deleted all iCloud entries I'm not sure what action fixed this because I did both at once. Hope this helps!

Direct Update to OS X El Capitan Using Clover

I had that too. I just answered the audio_clover script as I've done before, then sound worked. That message isn't from the script, it's from El Capitan. If you open terminal and type: csrutil status You'll get the same error message.

Direct Update to OS X El Capitan Using Clover

Using iMac14,2 - did not encounter the problem. Yes, that's roughly what it looked like! I deleted all kexts except FakeSMC from the 10.11 folder which solved that problem.

Direct Update to OS X El Capitan Using Clover

I've had a slightly different experience: 1. I had to include *only* FakeSMC in the 10.11 folder. One other kext was causing a crash on boot. Not sure which yet, but I'm guessing it was an audio kext. 2. The boot option was initially "Boot Mac OS X" not "Boot OSX Install." Not a big deal...

Can't update to the new iWork

Ah, sorry, I didn't realize I'd purchased them previously. I don't remember buying them from the App Store, but it says I bought them in Aug 2011. I did buy the retail version at some point. I don't know if I accidentally purchased iLife from the App Store, or if two years ago Apple had the same...

Can't update to the new iWork

This probably doesn't help you, but here's what I did. I've always done a clean install for each new OS, habit from the old Windows days! I did a clean Maverick's install. iLife was free immediately after that, didn't update it. Maybe you could try moving or deleting iMovie from the apps folder...

Can't update to the new iWork

I believe you're right. I was able to update iWork (and Aperture) by installing Mavericks in VMWare. Host was Mavericks, ran into the issue described in this thread. Tried everything suggested on Macrumors & Apple Discussion forums without success. Finally installed Mavericks in a VM, then...

[SUCCESS] GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 - Upgrade from Lion

I just upgraded my App store apps and purchased a free one. Yes, they work. However, my MB NIC is disabled. I went with a Rosewill RC-401-EX, which is the same as the Sonnet Presto card (made for Mac). That was the best money I've ever spent on this hackintosh! Airplay - works. Tested...

[SUCCESS] GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 - Upgrade from Lion

Yes! System Report says Trim is supported, after selecting Trim Enabler in Multibeast. So far everything is working. I haven't tried removing the DSDT or SSDT files yet. Other than that, perfect build.

[SUCCESS] GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 - Upgrade from Lion

Normally I do a clean install for everything, but today I was feeling lazy. I backed up my HD, then ran Unibeast. In the Mountain Lion install I selected my current HD and pressed install. Walked away-- came back and ML was booted. (Did not boot to unibeast again, it just booted straight to...

    Buying Advice for Standalone NIC?

Lnx2Mac-- I did try your latest driver. That's when the problems started  I don't think the new driver caused the WOL problem I was seeing, because I did several clean installs and the problem never went away (using both 0.6.3 and .9 drivers). Plus, it's just odd that Windows would solve...

    Buying Advice for Standalone NIC?

Thanks! I see conflicting reports about both those cards too. Guess nothing will work 100% of the time for 100% of the people.

    Buying Advice for Standalone NIC?

My onboard NIC started giving me problems. I tried everything I could to fix it, nothing helped. (very odd problems, not just that it died.) I stuck another card in my machine, voila! Problems solved. That card has problems of it's own - on sleep it'll randomly die. It's a cheap RTL8169, the...

WOL errors, fixed by booting into Windows

I've verified that a 100% clean install has the same problem. I flipped hibernatemode=3 to test if forcing hibernation would work, and it didn't solve the problem. The clean install has the same WOL behavior (works 1 reboot after booting into Windows), but it's instant on/instant off. So that...

WOL errors, fixed by booting into Windows

Everything was going great until last Thursday. At that time I decided to mess with stuff, and now I'm paying for it. So I know my hardware is capable of working as expected. On Thursday I added darkwake=0, and upgraded to Lnx2Mac's latest driver. Since then... The basic problem is my Lion...

    WOL Issues

Re: Guide: GA-P67A-UD3-B3 with ATI 5870 – 10.6.8 and Lion This happens to me too. I can sometimes work around it by sending WOL from 2 different sources over and over. Looks like there's a fix: http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=33379 Add darkwake=0 to your kernel flags I'll try it now.

    WOL Issues

Re: Guide: GA-P67A-UD3-B3 with ATI 5870 – 10.6.8 and Lion Well, I'm not sure. I didn't mess with energy saver settings at all. Just default settings on the 1.1 board. I also didn't mess with BIOS settings: load optimized settings, then change AHCI and 64-bit HPET. That's it. My energy saver...

    WOL Issues

Re: Guide: GA-P67A-UD3-B3 with ATI 5870 – 10.6.8 and Lion Sleep is working great for me, along with WOL. I'm on 1.1 for P67A-UD3-B3. Maybe sleep only works on 1.1? Followed all guides to the letter (first Gordo's, then the 10.6.8, then Tony's 10.7 guide). I did have to run the CMOS reset fix...
