High Sierra is my first install on this system, so I have no idea.

For what it's worth, this issue happens on my GTX 970 as well. GPU works fine on boot, but waking up from sleep causes the whole computer to lag and become unusable. I'm using high Sierra 10.13.2 with APFS.

I have the exact same specs as yours, CPU, video card etc. I used unibeast patched my USB for mbr and ran multibeast after install. When installing multibeast remember to select the ps2controller for Touchpad and keyboard to work. BTW what Kexts are you using for wifi, just curious ;)
