Thanks. I'll try this. I was just going to try and update to 10.15.4. Apparently I should run the new catalina Multibeast first. Is that going to mess up our recent work with audio? What do I need to do to make sure it doesn't? Thanks!
Switcher works well.
Would an iPad pro count as a Thunderbolt device? I wondered about trying to get sidecar working with that via the USB-C port.
I don't have a thunderbolt drive or whatever.
As far as CC was concerned, I noticed in the Finder that all the kexts in Other were marked as "package" files, but that CC was not. So I assumed that there must be some attribute on the file that wasn't set properly. I re-downloaded/unzipped the file and then just dropped the result direct...
...et voila! I must have installed the wrong AppleALC at some point, because re-downloading the version you recommended has done the trick. I now have audio from the rear line out (headphone). Excellent!
Audio Outputs are once again listed as:
---
Digital Out
Line Out
Line Out
Line Out
DELL...
Correct. Initially I had the list I mentioned, but they disappeared at some point in the process (#15). Weird.
I will remove IntelGraphicsFixup.kext from /L/E.
I have downloaded WhateverGreen. There are four files:
WhateverGreen.kext.dSYM
WhateverGreen.kext
WhateverName
SSDT-PNLF.dsl
I have copied WhateverGreen.kext to Other, but done nothing with the other three files. Here is the output of "kextcache -i /" at this point.
Kext with invalid...
The computer will sleep. When it comes back there's no change to audio. At present I only have HDMI as an audio output option and so can't test any other outputs. layout_id is 7, but 8 doesn't work either.
Here's the output of your script. I think this means I have managed to install CodecCommander successfully (copying into "Other" in the end).
HDA Streams:
DAC 1 = 00
DAC 2 = 00
DAC 3 = 00
S/PDIF = 00
Pin Control:
Speakers = 00
Center/Sub = 00...
So I have removed CC from "Other" and unzipped a new copy on the Desktop. I then (sudo) "chown -R root:wheel" for that copy and kextload. It seemed to go through (no error message), but nothing changed. Reboot didn't change anything either.
I tried to use kextbeast to install CC into S/L/E...
Ah, ok. So I shouldn't have put CodecCommander in "Other". I'll try loading it manually from the main partition. Does that mean that it eventually needs to live in L/E or S/L/E?
This seems weird. Having copied hda-verb and run your script and kextcache the menubar list of output devices now lists only the monitor. The other output options have disappeared. This is true whether I set layout-ID to 7 or 8 (using Clover Configurator "inject" setting).
Here is the output of kextcache:
Kext with invalid signature (-67062) allowed: <OSKext 0x7f8a49d121c0 [0x7fff90111690]> { URL = "file:///Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/", ID = "org.netkas.driver.FakeSMC" }
Kext with invalid signature (-67062) allowed: <OSKext 0x7f8a49d10590 [0x7fff90111690]> {...
I think I have switched the layout-id to 7 (changing the "Inject" setting under "Audio" on the "Devices" page of Clover Configurator to 7 from 4).The menubar list of output devices is now:
Digital Out
Line Out [was previously "Headphones"]
Line Out
Line Out
DELL U2718Q
I don't understand why...
I removed Lilu from /L/E so everything is now in Clover/kexts/Other only, as required, with the .aml in Clover/ACPI/patched.
I have HDMI sound and the menubar list of output devices now includes:
Digital Out
Headphones
Line Out
Line Out
DELL U2718Q
Selecting anything other than DELL (HDMI)...
Thanks for this Wern. I'm afraid its been a while. I can install this AppleALC with KextBeast, but can you remind me what I need to do with the SSDT file? Thanks.
Absolutely not annoyed! Grateful for your support wern, and this excellent community.
I'll try these and come back to you. I might ask some basic questions about how to do it since its been a while since we last looked at this.
Thanks again.
