[solved] [Kaby Lake] Lenovo Y520: Slow MacOS after sleep/wake

@RehabMan Is there anywhere where I can read more about the TSC issue? edit* I decided to build and compile the VoodooTSCSync kext, as I had similar issues, the new kext seems to have fixed them.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Yeah I'm using fixup now instead on injector and no kexts to pass. Nice about the the new build of clover, I'll have to update, I did it the hard way with passing the whole edid into the AAPL line.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Ok, got it working with AppleBacklightInjector and edid in devices/properties/aapl00... So, its all working now, thank you.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

If I did that correctly it still does not work this way. Since it works without the kext, is there any potential issue with not using it?

    What to read next

So I have a question for everyone here. I'm currently a programming student at a community college, and I've gotten some of the basic courses down for learning python, c++, and have taught myself some java and swift. My knowledge base is that of an introductory course, basic control flow, etc...

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Ok, I'll get it installed and patched again later tonight and send in another problem reporting file when I have time. Might take a bit, as I'm about to leave and pick up my kid and I won't have to time to change it over again for a while. Out of curiosity was the format for my problem files...

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Right that's what I'm saying. My Backlight slider currently works in exactly that configuration. It does not work if I enable that patch and install AppleBacklightInjector.kext. I thought it was odd that its working in the way it is currently and wanted to know if this is a new normal for Mojave.

Ok Here's the debug files. Hopefully I ran that right, it's my first time running the script.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Ah so odd question. I'm using Mojave with Lilu and WhateverGreen now, but when I went to patch for Brightness I needed the SSDT-PNLF.aml file but not the AppleBackLightInjector.kext. When I try to load that kext, the brightness slider is disabled, without that kext I have a working slider...

    VoodooI2C Help and Support

Solved I'm an idiot, please disregard the previous message here. I wasn't well pinned and was in polling mode already. Now I'm just looking for what pin to use and having a hard time as I've got 5700000003000000 from IOinterruptSpecifiers and I don't get a valid pin from either either of the...

[README] Common Problems and Workarounds on 10.14 Mojave

That sounds like what happens if you are running light mode on an unsupported Mac that doesn't have a metal capable GPU. Graphics anomalies: Currently, pre-metal video cards used in Mojave will produce a weird darkish grey Menu Bar and Finder sidebar when using the light theme. In the dark...

[README] Common Problems and Workarounds on 10.14 Mojave

Any guess on when you'll have them ready? Just wondering as switching the configuration to Lilu + Whatevergreen for the framebuffer for my hdmi out is kicking my butt and I need to do some more reading to understand it better. Your guides have always been some of the best for this.

    End Of MacOS on Intel?

I think the fear is that this isn't going to be the latest and greatest merely the latest. 68k>PPC>Intel each new arch was an obvious step forward compared to the old. The rumors of going to arm? Well a lot of people including myself don't see it. I just don't think there will be any...

New Modular Mac Pro Not Available till 2019

I will say this though. With the birth of feasible eGPU's, iMacs are looking nicer and nicer to me. But I'm not a video editor. I just like playing a few games.

    End Of MacOS on Intel?

If Bloomberg is right, they would have already had to acquire AMD for this to be feasible for a 2020 release of the first product. They wouldn't be able to just do that sort of thing instantly. If the 2020 date and all the rest of it is true they have some prototypes at Cupertino.

    End Of MacOS on Intel?

I really hope you're wrong and that isn't the future. Too often lately I have to take my laptop with me to get some work done while I'm waiting in a hospital, nursing home, or doctor's waiting room. Assuming there is even a wifi signal there, I usually have to use a VPN to get around their...

    End Of MacOS on Intel?

Likely correct if they follow through on this. Though I still have a hard time imagining any arm chip performing well enough for a pro. MacBook Pro, sure, those aren't that powerful. I could see that happening. iMac Pro or Mac Pro? Those are a different league and I'll have to see it to...

    End Of MacOS on Intel?

That could likely work for me. It won't for others if they want to be able to play games. Running the code on the cloud is not a mystical answer for everyone though it will help some.
