what a mess... my graphics card was so expensive. Honestly it would probably make more sense for me to just buy another 960 EVO and just never upgrade my Mac OS or mess around with this ever again... but alas.
For now I will be putting my 970 EVO Plus in for when I want to use Windows and...
there are two slots for graphics cards on my mobo... I guess for future reference I'd like to ask, if I buy an AMD, would it be possible to run my hackintosh solely on that, and keep my NVIDIA in there for my windows build?
Right so, I'm in a bit of a bind. Can't update to High Sierra without installing a second Graphics card.
Unless I can, with some trial and error, fix my EFI config, do I just have to unplug and plug in this NVMe drive whenever I want to use Windows? Not sure if I can return it at this point...
Unless something has changed, I tried using those web drivers for my graphics card and everything ran extremely slowly / glitchy... I downgraded to Sierra after that...
well I can't upgrade to High Sierra because of my NVIDIA graphics card.
Would you mind listing all the NVMe related kexts and things for me so I can try a process of elimination? It seems like my only option at this point.
Thank you!
I was very haphazard with what I tried to get everything working. It's quite possible I was very uneconomical about it. Is it possible that I can't run a 960 and 970 Plus simultaneously? Surely it makes sense for me to try some trial and error now?
You are much more knowledgeable than me in this. Is there anything you advise I can try? Some trial-and-error with removing the SSDT / kexts one-by-one?
My NVMe worked for a long time on Sierra - it's just now with two m.2 drives, something's stopped working! I'm sure it can be fixed.
Thanks!
I'm on Sierra. It was not natively supported, I had to do some stuff to my config.plist to make things work.
I don't understand about trying the EFI on the EFI partition of the flash drive. I just formatted the drive and put the folder on there. I will try to create an EFI partition instead on...
I tried reformatting my flash drive to FAT32, putting this EFI folder on, and booting from it. But the Apple logo appears, the load bar gets to about halfway, and I get a circle with a line through it.
Thanks again for your help!
I have the latest firmware for the Samsung 970 EVO Plus, which means it is not a firmware issue that the drive has.
You mentioned it could be a problem with PCI-e lanes? I am happy to try something else!

Thank you very much, I found another thread which details the process.
I burned the ISO for the firmware update onto a USB flash drive, and will boot into that USB drive and install the firmware. I will report back :-)
Just had the brainwave to remove the 970 EVO plus and my hackintosh works again. I am ready to post whatever info you need, EFI folder, whatever!
Can I find this firmware for Sierra?
I use a 960 EVO for my Apple boot drive.
The second M.2 I just installed is a 970 EVO plus -- for Windows.
I'm not sure whether I'm using NVMe patches in my EFI -- I know i had to do some tinkering to allow Sierra to recognise M.2 drives. How can I post my EFI folder? How can I access it...
Thank you for your replies.
This is a very strange issue for me to figure out. What do you think is my best course of action here? Any keywords or other threads I can try? I'd really appreciate any help on this as I'm a little bit screwed if I can't fix this quick! :)
