Legacy Core Audio Drivers for FireWire on Ventura

maybe this will help? I posted the kext I used and modifications to config.plist for OC 0.8.8. I do Not have SIP disabled (I don't think)? https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/possible-to-install-ventura-on-external-ssd-to-test-injection-of-applefwaudio-kext.325457/post-2368181

Possible to install Ventura on external SSD to test injection of AppleFWAudio.kext?

I'm using OpenCore 0.8.8. If you're Not using OpenCore, then use OCAT to get that set up: Beginners Guide to using OC Auxiliary Tools App (Also known as OCAT) 0.8.8 is not the latest but I tend to Not change things when they aren't broken. Just updated to the latest Ventura update. Here's...

Possible to install Ventura on external SSD to test injection of AppleFWAudio.kext?

Never mind! I installed Ventura painlessly and then added AppleFWAudio.kext from the last Monterey update as the last kext to be injected and I can use my FireFace 400 Firewire audio interface with Ventura. Problem .. Solved!!!

Possible to install Ventura on external SSD to test injection of AppleFWAudio.kext?

I"m running Monterey and I'm only doing so because of my need for FireWire for CoreAudio. I was able to install Ventura, but wiped it and went back to Monterey when I discovered Apple ripped that out of Ventura. I'd like to test injecting the AppleFWAudio.kext from Monterey into Ventura with...

Legacy Core Audio Drivers for FireWire on Ventura

I just ran across this hack and I'm .. Excited!! I need XCODE 14.3 and I'm stuck on Monterey because of this Firewire issue. 1. does SIP need to stay disabled? There are two conflicting messages above on this? 2. I presume I'd just copy it into my OpenCore installation? I'm now running...

Beginners Guide to using OC Auxiliary Tools App (Also known as OCAT)

Probably a dumb question .. but .. could I use the Win64 version of OCAT running in a Virtual Machine to see what changes would be made when updating my OC EFI setup? In other words - for an update will OCAT look at the hardware or can I just have it look at the EFI itself and change OC, kexts...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

I used to invest in semiconductor stocks with a position in Cymer .. which got .. Sold to ASML. Cymer was San Diego based and had very cool EUV lithography. ASML was traded as ASMLF (foreign) and we sold it to them lol

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

Well .. to be Honest .. you Do need the 'massive power' of the 1st TI calculator to land on the moon lol (amazing they pulled that off with such Low tech??) And I kind of liked B. F. Skinner's Operant Conditioning that would have used Pigeons as the guidance system for missiles!! But .. who...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

It would be Nice if they were restricted to using an Abacus lol but .. Reality indicates they are resourceful and Dedicated (they went to the Moon in 2009). So .. finding a way to get into bed with them as allies makes more sense than having them as enemies (keep your friends close and your ...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

I'd run 2-3 nVidia top of the line cards in a box for 3D rendering and was Not unhappy with their driver or hardware quality? Lost track of that market so I have no idea who is on top now? Don't get me Started about Intel lol - how in the World did Intel .. who Invented microprocessors...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

Not to kick a dead horse lol but .. by Only have a single Video chipset vendor Apple Removed one source of competition and innovation. I kind of Like it that AMD and Intel have to Fight each other for market share. That's what Apple is doing with their M1/M2/etc. processors - and it will keep...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

Apple Stopped using nVidia so the miniscule number of add on cards bought for Apple didn't make driver development worthwhile for nVidia as Macs are rather a tiny percentage of PC sales anyway. But .. Who Cares really? It's not worth continuing a discussion?

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

Gladly!! nVidia was the Superior technology .. but Apple for Political reasons chose the Lesser technology?? Horrible decision that negatively affected a lot of users and technology companies .. and split development dollars away from Useful purposes into supporting Two differnet video...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

As Ventura is supported on 'Mac Pro models from 2019 or later' and they can use a Firewire card (and Are used heavily in music and video production) .. possibly they Should care as Removing a perfectly working protocol just makes no sense? Probably done by some 3rd rate employee from a 4th...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

Hmmm? Some users have reported success with using 2 adapters to go from Thunderbolt to Firewire? I think I probably own them (purchased from Apple) as I once played with connecting an Intel Mac Mini to the Audio Interface. It worked at that time but the Mac Mini of a few years ago was just...

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

Apple's Firewire CoreAudio driver has been discontinued on macOS 13 Ventura. This means that Driver won't work anymore. Possibly Apple will react if enough people complain but .. I doubt it as Apple could care less unless it moves their dial even if it's the largest movie studios (like when...

[GUIDE] macOS 13 Ventura on Z390 Aorus Elite with RX 6600 and OpenCore 0.8.6

I used Just the 'agdpmod=pikera in boot args' with Monterey with a Metal Score of 86365 with GeekBench 5. I guess my Last question is: Does that score indicate it's setup correctly? I haven't run it more than 20 minutes but .. no crashes yet when using Logic Pro on 3 2560 x 1440 monitors?

Is there a workaround for Apple pulling FireWire support?

Wow! That's a Perfect solution! Let me know if you stumble across that other article you were thinking of? I was very happy to note that on the same internal NVMe: "The advantage of doing this is that the two system installations share the same free space in that volume" "However, it’s more...
