One thing I noticed now that I tried to repair my High Sierra by re-installing it (which should keep all my files) is this: the Volume is quite full. Only 4/500GB are available and the installer needs more than that. But I can't access the APFS partition from any other of my systems so how else...
My HS partition disappeared from the boot options without me doing anything new on the system. Just between boots.
I tried to narrow the problem down by removing all other HDDs from the system and resetting CMOS but it didn't help.
I also tried to boot from my HS install stick in order to repair...
I tried to wake my computer and it didn't respond, so I turned it off and on again but now nothing happens. I unplugged all HDDs and the GeForce but still I get nothing. How do I go on about troubleshooting?
The power supply (corsair rm550x) does seem to work, at least the power LED on my WiFi...
Somewhere on this forum I read that a possible fix is to install this via Kexbeast.
If I remember correctly I did install the ALC1150 and only after that - since it didn't work - I also installed the 100/200/300. I guess there's the problem.
Anyway, meanwhile I've installed AppleALC as per this...
Unfortunately this doesn't do anything. It still doesn't show up in my system.
I also added AppleHDA.kext to my kexts (taken from the High Sierra installer) because I read somewhere about it. But still I can't see my soundcard.
Thanks a lot for all the help! I finally got it running.
The problem was something else though and in retrospect I wouldn't even have needed a clean install.
What happened was that after a clean install everything worked initially but after using the migration assistant to get back my data I was...
As for the conversion: I followed the guide to convert to apfs. Using apfs.efi instead of apfsDriverLoader-64.efi, since that's what the guide said.
Anyway, I will follow your advice with the USB installer.
In the meantime (since I didn't see the last reply) I removed the NVidia card and my HDD...
Just to make sure I understand. The volume called "Sierra" is the volume I updated to HS, so that is in fact my High Sierra volume. (I guess it doesn't get renamed by updating?) Then I have two partitions on another HDD that each contains a Sierra backup from before the update (PERM and TEMP...
I did those steps but I still have the same issue.
However, there's one difference: now, after an unsuccessful attempt to boot HS, I get a problem report of that attempt after booting my Sierra backup. I've pasted it into the attached text file.
I think I ran the script before I replaced apfs.efi with apfsDriverLoader-64.efi. I did so in the meantime but it still doesn't work.
Before the update to HS I used Multibeast 9.2.1 to update Clover. Now I need to use MB 10.4.0 for the update to see the HS drive as an option. However, when I try...
I've attached the zip file generated by the script.
Meanwhile I also did a slo-motion video of the verbose boot and found that the last lines before restart are:
@kec.pthread 1
@kec.corecrypto 1.0
@kec.libm 1
Attempting system restart...
1. Ok, did fill it in
2. Should I just replace apfs.efi with apfsdriverloader-64.efi?
3. I ran the script on my backup Sierra, does this make sense? And do I post it here?
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4095 MB

I updated from Sierra following the instructions in this thread. Updated Clover to 4173 using Multibeast and copied apfs.efi. Didn't copy FakeSMC.kext since it was...
So now I've updated to High Sierra but it doesn't boot anymore. It just restarts halfway through the process (halfway through Apple logo process bar screen). Did a video recording of verbose boot but even that happened so fast that I can't say what's wrong.
I booted from my Carbon Copy Cloner...
Is it still possible to get a High Sierra install somehow? I need to update from Sierra in order to update XCode but I don't want to use Mojave due to the missing NVidia drivers. But High Sierra is not in the App Store anymore..
Hi,
sometimes changing my clover config leads to a system that doesn't boot anymore. My way to reset is to use the USB install stick to boot and 're-install' (reset) OSX. Once I can boot my system again I swap out the EFI partition with the last working backup (before changing the Clover config)...
