Random screen freezes and screen always freezes on Shutdown/Restart

Update: today I decided to disable the integrated GPU to get lossless audio working in Apple Music, and that seem to have fixed the freezing issues! I no longer need to have "caffeinate -d" running to stop the computer from freezing.

Random screen freezes and screen always freezes on Shutdown/Restart

Thanks, but I was still on OC 0.7.4, that's why the they were missing. Updating to 0.7.5 (and adding the quirks) didn't solve the issue. Back to caffeinate -d.

Random screen freezes and screen always freezes on Shutdown/Restart

I also get random freezes on Monterey. My initial thought was that it had to do with the monitor going to sleep, but I now know it can also happen with "Turn display off" set to "Never". For me it always happens when the computer is idle. If I use it actively, it doesn't freeze (so far, anyway)...

Big Sur 11.3 Update Broke USB 3

I've also lost the USB 3 ports after the update. USB 2 works. Using iMac17,1 SMBIOS.

    Software update can't see 11.1

I've had this update issue since early Big Bur betas. With both OC 0.6.2 and 0.6.3. I tried different approaches with BlacklistAppleUpdate (TRUE, FALSE and no BlacklistAppleUpdate at all) when it was re-introduced in OC 0.6.4, but no change. Resolution (for me) was to enable SIP again.

    Software update can't see 11.1

BlacklistAppleUpdate is for blocking firmware updates, not OS updates. From Dortania: Used for blocking firmware updates, used as extra level of protection as macOS Big Sur no longer uses run-efi-updater variable Enabling SIP restored the update functionality for me. Thanks @molko1234!

[SOLVED] Crashes when iGPU is enabled

Still no crashes, I think the issue is resolved. So I guess the solution was one of the following two: - I found an error in my config.plist: the AAPL,ig-platform-id type was set to String instead of Data. - I updated Lilu to 1.4.8 and WhateverGreen to 1.4.3 (now running 1.4.9 and 1.4.4).

[SOLVED] Crashes when iGPU is enabled

But if I change model, will not Messages/iCloud break? I really don't want to set that up again. Just logging out/in to iCloud is a pain (re-syncing the whole Photos library, iCloud Drive etc). I've now re-enabled the iGPU + shikigva=80. So far no crashes... I still do have playback issues in...

[SOLVED] Crashes when iGPU is enabled

I've tried and turned it off, but DRM still won't work. I have only got DRM to work when I have iGPU enabled + shikigva=80. Otherwise I haven't messed around with any settings yet. I can always use other web browsers for video/DRM content. But I also updated Lilu and WhateverGreen yesterday...

[SOLVED] Crashes when iGPU is enabled

After I upgraded from Catalina to Big Sur (currently at 11.0.1 Beta (20B5012d)) I started to get random crashes. Screen would freeze and computer had to be hard reset. I left Console.app running I could see there were always some "virtual IOReturn IOAccelEventMachine2..." and "void...

    DW1560 Unlock with Apple Watch

[SOLVED] IOKit Daemon (kernelmanagerd) stall[0], (240s): 'PXSX'

Ok, I found the issue. After booting into Big Sur I found a second PXSX property in IORegistryExplorer. Which was related to the Broadcom Wi-Fi card. And Wi-Fi was something that I hadn't got working under Big Sur, even if I added brcmfx-driver=2 as a boot argument. After I disabled all...

[SOLVED] IOKit Daemon (kernelmanagerd) stall[0], (240s): 'PXSX'

I disabled LAN2 in BIOS and now PXSX doesn't show in IORegistryExplorer. But Big Sur still stalls at IOKit Daemon (kernelmanagerd) stall[0], (240s): 'PXSX'

[SOLVED] IOKit Daemon (kernelmanagerd) stall[0], (240s): 'PXSX'

Not yet. But I just did a search for "PXSX" in IORegistryExplorer and I can see it has to do with ethernet. It had SmallTreeIntel82576.kext loaded (booting under Catalina), which is used for the second ethernet port on my motherboard. I don't use that port however, so I disabled the kext. But it...

[SOLVED] IOKit Daemon (kernelmanagerd) stall[0], (240s): 'PXSX'

When I'm booting the Big Sur installer USB, it stalls for 240s with the following message: IOKit Daemon (kernelmanagerd) stall[0], (240s): 'PXSX' The lock-up will then repeat 3 more times, and then the installation proceeds. This happens on every restart during the installation. Big Sur will...

Unlock With Apple Watch Not Working In Catalina

My H170N-WIFI card does not have a serial port from what I can tell. But in the manual I can see that at least there used to be a Super IO setting in BIOS. I don't think it had any sub-sections though. Latest BIOS update is F22e from 2018. Is there a way to force disable the serial port with...

Unlock With Apple Watch Not Working In Catalina

Well this is annoying, I can't disable my GPU. Internal Graphics is Enabled, and Initial Display Output is set to IGFX in BIOS. And ig-platform-id is set to 0x19120000 in config.plist. But as soon as I boot with -wegnoegpu it kernel panics and reboots. Booting with the Intel HD530 iGPU used to...

Unlock With Apple Watch Not Working In Catalina

This is interesting. I too have a Sapphire (RX560) card + DW1560 Broadcom card, with the same issues. But I haven't gone through the hassle to uninstall the card. I poked around in BIOS to see if I could deactivate the card completely, but for some reason I couldn't get the iGPU to display...
