Display Sleeps then wakes but gets weird... See attached video
I shutdown and then restart and then have no sound but display is normal. Another reboot and sound is magically back and everything is back to normal. I am able to repeat this...
To summarize: HP Elitebook 840 G2 and possibly any laptop using the Intel HD5500 Graphics Package on Sierra greater than 10.12.3 has an issue with the internal display not working (Black Screen with Backlight on) after display sleep or system sleep. Disabling the AppleIntelBDWGraphics.kext and...
So the lcd is still acting the same (black screen with backlight) but the system seems to be responsive still.
So I hooked a monitor up to the displayport, it sleeps and wakes up as expected. I'm able to interact with the system even though the lcd is not showing anything. Should I grab an...
Well some "success"
With ig-platform-id 0x16260004 and me leaving the system alone for about 45 minutes it generated a crash report on sleep wake and a crash report on window server. Any helpful information in this?
0x16160002 does not have the memory issue but some strange artifacts happen when scrolling through text.
Do you know of any other ig-platform-id to try?
Now I can confirm that I tried ig-platform-id 0x16260002, 0x16260004 and 0x16260006. All have the same issue with display sleep.
ig-platform-id 0x16160002, 0x16160004 and 0x16160006 have additional issues with the video memory being reported incorrectly and artifacts on the display.

@apfeleimer can you please confirm which ig-platform-id you are using on 10.12.3?
Thank You
I plugged an external display into the display port and mirrored the displays. That worked perfectly..
Told the display to sleep. When I tried to wake, the laptop LCD turned on but was just black. The external display was good. I started to move my mouse and then the system became...
I reset the BIOS to factory defaults and followed the Guide very carefully on settings. Same results.
Would it be helpful to detail all of the BIOS settings options available and show my options chosen?
BIOS is version M71 Ver. 01.21
