Yes, the answer is upgrade, I am on 10.13.2 Beta (17C76a) and everything now working fine. Be sure to follow this thread as well: www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/325120-vega-frontier-edition-on-high-sierra/page-5
Volume works, brightness doesn't but I like it at full brightness so that works for me.
It works great on window.
It didn't work with NVidia when I tried it earlier. Since the iMac Pro will have the Vega cards seems like the best bet overall.
Okay I can now report a fully functional LG 5k setup with a Vega 64 card running 10.13.2 beta 1 (17C60c). Heaven benchmark now works with anti aliasing and all electron based apps and chrome appear to work with gpu acceleration, I've been using all of this for a few hours with 0 issues.
The...
Have you tried putting in those kext file on 10.13.0 High Sierra to see if they work? Maybe we don't need to update to the beta if we're just loading in additional kext files?
Woot, now we just need the right upgrade path to 10.13.2 beta 1 from High Sierra, looks like LiluKext needs to be upgraded to 1.2.1. or we will see issues.
Have you tried running Electron based apps on 10.13.2 beta 1 to see if they still crash? Or running Chrome without disabling the GPU? If you run Slack or anything like that you can generally get it to crash the whole machine in a couple of clicks.
Did this crash occur on an Electron or GPU accelerated app like Chrome? Currently I have a Vega 64 and it crashes on anything using the GPU like Slack, Spotify, Chrome, etc without the GPU being disabled.
Are you using the vega with this build? I don't see a mention of graphics, with Vega I have to disable the GPU with Chrome have you also had to do this or can you get full GPU acceleration with Chrome and other electron based apps? Thanks!
Yeah, so that's weak sauce. But are you betting the Vega winds up with legit fully working drivers sometime before the ends of the year since the iMac Pro is being launched then?
It does work on 5k I think it's just a web driver issue, I returned the 1080 and I am going to shoot it out between the RX580 and the Vega and hope they update the Vega driver soon to support hardware acceleration outside of Metal. For now the RX 580 is working great.
So what I did is go get an RX 480 graphics card, which I had working before and I can confirm it's still working @ 5k and the graphics card reports as the correct one in addition the monitor also reports properly:
So what I can confirm for my system on High Sierra with a GC-Alpine Ridge card...
Okay so I need a little help, I have the card in and the driver loads, but I can't get it to turn on the display, I can only remote into in and when I try to check the display I am getting:
Any ideas, thanks!
