How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Yes, I am using the card, since I do not get native NVME speeds on the mainboard interfaces. Raid 0 cannot be achieved afaik, as it uses an operating mode OSX cannot understand. So answer is no or respectively: Windows only.

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

@kgp First of all let me thank you again for taking care of my EFI folder during our test phase. I have now returned to normal DP 1.4 operation and I have followed your progress thoroughly. It is a shame you could not succeed until now and I am sorry for you, because there is a lot of effort...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I have no issues with the Vega in Windows. However, sometimes I use the RTX for Gaming in Windows by simply swopping out DP 1.4 cables. Even at PCI lane 8x speed it is significant faster in e.g. Doom at 5k ... :D

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Just to keep it in mind: I am running 10.13.6 and can display 5k via a MacBook Pro 15" via TB3 with no issues. However, my lid is closed during display, I do not need a 2nd display.

@kgp Wow, I am impressed by your dedication ;-) Sorry I could not help faster with results. It is good to know however, that you now can test full steam ahead and I wish you best of luck with that. How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Well, the sequence is a bit different @kgp: I start the computer - back screen, but monitor is connected the same way it was when I could see the boot logo. Thus no choice if Windows or OSX, since I can't even see clover or anything at all. Until now I cannot resemble the error, but the...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Actually, it turns out rather tricky: After changing back to TB3, I see exactly nothing (black screen) again from the boot on. No boot logo, nothing. In this state I did a how-switch, but it did not work, as expected. I have issues to understand when the system would boot fine from the...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

OK, I have positive news. After a few reboots I got the TB-3 display working. I started with one DP connection and only AFTER added the 2nd connection. Results: Windows, one cable: 4K max Windows, two cables: 5K desired target resolution OSX: Normal verbose start lines, when the system should...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Houston, we have a hardware problem!? When I connect the Vega to the CG Titan Ridge controller via the DP cables, the system boots fine (one beep for successful POST). The monitor says "Thunderbolt connected", but the screen stays black. I have applied the BIOS settings from page 1 of this...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Sure, here we go: The device ID is 0x6863. I never witnessed a KP on this system since the early days. In fact, I just woke the system from sleep without any issues. However, when it boots, it says "deep sleep not supported". But I guess this refers to the fact we don't have a T2 chip?

BAAM, here we go, many thanks! Something must have gotten messed up, because I definitively implemented your custom EFI folder in the first place. Now the CG Titan Ridge shows under PCI devices. Attached is the IOReg dump one more time ... Now ... throw all your dirty questions at me ...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Thanks a lot, I will try this in a minute. Meanwhile a logic question: The CG Titan Card has two Mini-DP to DP-Port cables. Is it intended to connect two DP 1.4 Ports of the Vega via two of these DP 1.2 cables to the CG Titan Ridge Controller in order to get 5k? I would see no other way to...
