Yes, I'm on the 4x PCIe and everything is plugged correctly. No Thunderbolt docks are mounting on Windows... I've re-installed all the drivers... I'm stuck. :/
Hi!
I've the Gigabyte Z170X Designare (2 native TB and one DP input) and the GC Alpine Ridge... but I'm not able to have the Thunderbolt working with the Alpine (TB3 works fine with the native ports). I installed all the drivers, I even tried to use different PCI ports (x8, x4...). I even tried...
- MacBook Pro 2016 2,9Ghz Radeon Pro 460 High Sierra Beta 8
- Akitio Node Thunderbolt 3
- Une Radeon Vega 64 8GB
- LG Ultrafine 5k
I plugged the 2 cables on the Alpine Ridge and the single thunderbolt from the display...
i'll try with other configurations (like LG USB C etc.)
@joevt
How did you get it working ? I'm trying on High Sierra with eGPU (Vega 64) and LG5k... but nothing happens...
Do you need to power the Alpine Ridge card with an additional cable?
Updated from App Store, Nvidia drivers updated too (1080Ti), fakeCPU removed, iMac 18,6 changed.... Everything works fine except Intel iGPU.
How do you activate Kaby-Lake Intel HD? why isn't it working natively?
with the 1080Ti, i'm only able to have the lowest resolution, not even 1440 or 4k... (with 1 or 2 cables).
I don't have a 1060 or a 960 to test, sorry :/
- I tried with and without the Alpine Ridge - 5K never works at full resolution.
- 4K (UltraFine) works fine with and without the Alpine Ridge (but with the AR, LG's USB doesn't seem to work...).
- Next step is to try with a Radeon RX - I've seen it's working better with the 5k...
(you can plug...
GC-ALPINE RIDGE + GA-Z170X designare + geForce 1080Ti + 5K Ultrafine = black screen too. I'm able to remote-access the machine, but not able to have the screen working after the Apple logo.
Btw, works fine with the Ultrafine 4k...
Did you try with remote desktop to change the resolution? I don't have the Alpine Ridge yet, but I'm able to have it working with the 1080Ti in low resolution...
Yes it worked, thanks !... but only with the lowest resolution. Very strange cause my LG 4k works fine at full resolution... I've order the Alpine Ridge card with double-DP1.2... we'll see!
Ok I found the issue for the Apple Thunderbolt : I had to disable the Thunderbolt Boot option in the BIOS. But still not able to finish the macOS loading on the 5k... :/
With the Designare, I'm able to boot with the Ultrafine 4K but not entirely with the Ultrafine 5K : it crashed during macOS loading. Any idea?
With Apple Thunderbolt Display, it works fine but USB ports are not working. Again, any ideas welcome :)
