Battery draining fast when sleeping/turned off

I've completed a Sierra build on a fresh HP Pavilion 15 2018. I'm facing an issue with the battery draining fast even when the laptop is sleeping or turned off. The battery level drops by 50-60% overnight. I have noticed that every now and then the laptop turns on from sleep, which I thought to...

    VoodooHDA crackling

I have already done that and opened another thread about patching AppleHDA, which doesn't work good on my system and I am unable to make it work (speaker not working, tried AppleHDA Patcher and manual patching as well without results), thus I would like to move to VoodooHDA. Also unable to find...

    VoodooHDA crackling

After failed attempts to use a patched AppleHDA to get my build working (in particular, to get the speaker working - headphones were fine), I wanted to go with VoodooHDA. I removed all the patched files and reverted to stock AppleHDA configuration (no layout-id injection in ACPI) and installed...

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

I decided to start from a vanilla DSDT, reapply all the patches except for "Audio Layout 3", remove patched/unnecessary kexts and install VoodooHDA instead. Old-fashioned and punk, but it works just fine.

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

From FAQ (Q. Audio is not working. How to fix?): An AppleHDA patching guide: http://osxarena.com/2015/03/best-all-in-one-patch-applehda-guide/ I was referring to this one. Haven't checked it out yet.

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

That sounds better. Does the AppleHDA patching guide from the FAQ fit the purpose?

    Brightness keys PS2 remap

Sounds good! Thanks for helping (although I will certainly come back later with more questions...)

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

So should I patch it manually from scratch?

    Brightness keys PS2 remap

Because I can see an output from ApplePS2Keyboard in the Console when hitting the brightness keys (e02b=80 both for F2 and F3). I don't get anything, for instance, when hitting F5 (keyboard backlight on/off), so I assumed that F5 is handled via ACPI instead.

    Brightness keys PS2 remap

Thanks RehabMan, I've read it quite a few times now and I have read carefully all the documentation related to it. I still don't understand the things I've asked in the post, which are specifically related to the guide. Like I said, the info.plist file I am trying to edit show multiple entries...

    Brightness keys PS2 remap

That's the guide I used to get the backlight working (and it does). I have also followed the other guide mentioned in the thread (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-laptop-backlight-control-using-applebacklightinjector-kext.218222/) to get the brightness keys working, which is where I got...

    Brightness keys PS2 remap

I am trying to set up my brightness keys on the build as per my profile. I've been following this guide as reported by the FAQ https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller/wiki/How-to-Use-Custom-Keyboard-Mapping but I'm not sure how to actually remap the keys (or, more specifically...

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

Many thanks for the heads up! I have re-exported the ACPI tables from Clover > F4, rebuilt the DSDT from scratch and applied the patches (all the basic patches except for PNOT and IRQ Fix, Check OS for Win 10, Audio Layout 3 and HP Pavilion battery status patch). Then I have added...

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

Ok, no problem. Still, based on gen_debug, could you help me with the audio issue?

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

Here you go. One question regarding the OS fix patch. I've noticed that installing the Linux patch changes my keyboard Fn keys mapping (so I get working brightness keys and no keyboard backlight toggle). In opposition to that, any Windows patch restores the keyboard backlight and disables the...

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

Patches listed in the guide applied. I was unable to apply "IRQ fix" because no patches are displayed and enabled to be applied when I bring up "IRQ fix" from the patch browser in maciASL. As for the audio, nothing has changed. The differences I can experience are: - keyboard backlight key no...

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

Ok I will look into it. Can you be more specific about theissue with ACPI patching? I've been following the guide you linked but I'm not sure where to look and what's wrong.

[solved] Broadcom BCM94352 not working on Sierra

Apparently I was using a bad fvco patch in the first place, then I fixed it and thought it was due to Airport-Extreme. You are correct, now it works even without the other patch. Thanks.

AppleHDA.kext - Headphones OK, no speaker

How am I able to check which codec I have? I've seen an old post where you suggested to look at the Codec ID from DPCIManager to retrieve the correct codec for Realtek devices. Speakers working flawlessly in Windows.
