Not 100% sure I needed all of those, but it's working for me, so I'm not complaining.
I have the GA-Z170X-UD3. The Catalina installer seems to be working, but on the third reboot, I just get a grey screen with the mouse pointer that I'm able to move around, but nothing further happens.

I swapped out my old Nvidia 950 with an RX 580 so I could finally make the leap from High Sierra to Catalina. I also decided to do a "dry run" on a blank HD before I tried updating my current install, just so I could reverse everything if things didn't work. My system:

I have a Fusion Drive, so I won't get the APFS update. Will it hurt put the apfs.efi on my EFI partition anyway, just so it's there and I don't get surprised by a point update that suddenly activates APFS on me?

I followed the instructions to disable SIP by modifying the Rtvariables (Using Clover configurator) then ran the AGDP fix for nVidia script.
I'm using 17,1.
Yes, I can boot with nv_disable=1. That puts me back to flickering graphics.
I've tried running AGDPfix, but I get an error about SIP being enabled.

Everything was working correctly under 10.12.1. After doing the update and rebooting, I updated the Nvidia web drivers and rebooted again. Now I get the monitor going to sleep before the boot finishes.
Looking at all the guides, I seem to have my config.plist edited...
